First Date Ideas at Disney

I am meeting up with a guy in a few weeks; I will be staying on property (BW) and he will be staying off property. We plan to spend the weekend together, if all goes well. No parks, though, as that's a pretty significant investment time, energy, and money-wise, especially if things don't go well.

He took Friday off, so he will be meeting me at some point on Friday. I would guess it will be sometime somewhat early-ish, or maybe around lunch time.

I am trying to think of things that would be casual, yet also nice. Here are some ideas that I've come up with.

1) Meeting at Disney Springs. I can't quite think of a good spot, but somewhere at Disney Springs. Then, taking the boat to Old Key West to eat at Olivia's. I love Olivia's and love the vibe, but I am not sure if it's a bit too extravagant for a first date. Maybe taking the boat to French Quarter for Beignets instead?

2) Meeting at the Boardwalk. There are many lovely places to meet there. Then, taking the Skyliner to Riviera Resort for lunch at Primo Piatto. I adore the Rivera Resort, and Primo Piatto leans a little more casual. Maybe a game of Bocce. If the weather is nice, maybe we can find a table outside and eat and people watch.

3) Meeting at Downtown Celebration. It might be fun to explore the charm.


Do you like any of my ideas? Any better ideas of your own? I am open to suggestions. Side note: we already have evening plans for mini golf.

I like the Skyliner to Riviera idea.
If you both enjoy the Skyliner, you might consider heading to Caribbean Beach or POP/AofA to explore/grab a snack. Sounds fun but casual.

Yes he does, and yes, he has.

I would say so....it's counter service and the meals are in the $15 range, whereas Olivia's is sit-down and in the $30 range. That's just my personal opinion.

No need to answer this if you don't want to, but . . . have you ever met this guy IRL? I'm asking because it seems like maybe you haven't.

And, if you haven't, I'd suggest meeting somewhere for a cup of coffee first because if the vibe isn't there in person, you might not want to spend an entire meal with them.

Of course, I see videos where people talk about spending over $100 on a first date, which just blows my mind. So, I suppose to some people, $25-30 might seem normal, or even reasonable.

No, we have not met. We met through a Disney group, and this will be our first time to meet in person. But, we talk often, have done phone calls and video chats, and I think we are both feeling pretty confident in how things will go. BUT...you are right that in-person chemistry is a whole other thing and sometimes it doesn't go the way you think.....either in a good way or in a not good way.

Neither of us drink coffee or alcohol, so coffee/drinks probably isn't going to happen. But suffice it to say, that when I say meet at any one of these places, I am planning that there will be some considerable amount of time to sit and talk or walk and talk before moving on to other things. So, yes, there will be a vibe check.

Thanks for replying. You've video-chatted, which is good. Back when I was doing this it was all done in email or texting and I found out the hard way that compatibility in writing was no indication of compatibility in person--once suffering through an endless lunch. However, I did meet my now-DH through craigslist, of all places (they no longer have a personals section). I never would have met him otherwise.

Good luck to you! BTW, I don't drink coffee or alcohol either, so I get it. The "meet for coffee" idea was just a way of suggesting to do something that doesn't require loads of time. But I think the video-chatting gives both of you a much better idea of the other than merely writing and sending some photos would.

And I'm liking the beignets idea--low-key, not tons of $, and in a beautiful location.

I plan to put him on my reservation (I'm DVC) so that parking would be free. But, yes Disney Springs parking should be pretty easy peasy.

I’d meet at DS which also takes care of the parking. So many price ranges to eat with plus often outdoor entertainment.

The Mickey shaped beignets are worth it. Even the River cruise to get there is an experience in and of itself for the both of you. I’d go for a hop to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort-French Quarter. Of course, if Bruno decides to cause a storm in Orlando, be prepared to take regular Disney buses.
