First Choice

Anyone have any opinions on First Choice ? we're flying out of Bristol next year have never flown with them before but it's so close to home . we're flying premium as my daughter is a nervous flyer and I thought it might be a bit more calming for her. We don't have a car and will be taking Mears shuttle which FC have arranged has anyone done this and does it take forever ?

I'm hoping this new service out of Bristol will be good as we've booked it for next August and we've also upgraded to the premium seats. The cost to upgrade the seats with the extra leg room, better food, more entertainment etc seemed worth it for the relatively small cost and certainly cheaper than trying to upgrade with Virgin.

The thought of only having to drive back from Bristol after such a long flight was very appealing.

We've booked a hire car rather than a shuttle transfer though.

I have never flyed with them but I am sure with a nervous flyer, going from Bristol will be much better as there will be less stress in a smaller airport.

Maybe check out whether there is anywhere at the airport that your dd can get a massage before the flight - this might help

We used them last year also had the Star Class Premiere seats and the flight was brilliant the staff were amazing and the entertainment outstanding even for the kids!! Food was exceptional for aircraft food you get a 4 course meal.. with proper cutlery and crockery too

Thats sounds great would love to hear what it's like coming out of Bristol perhaps a 'trippie' from the West Country would be great lol.

Bit concernned tho' how long it's going to take from Sanford to WDW do the Mears shuttles stop at every hotel on the way ?

We travelled first Choice 2005, they were vey good, economy as well which was very roomy.
I to am a nervous passenger and rang them up beforehand, they let us board in with the first set of people and also seated us at the front of the economy seats. the seat back TVs are a treat for nervous passengers as you can just focus on that.

Have booked for Oct 2007 with them, flying from East Midlands. Upgraded to Star Class Premier, as with the web discount, it was a lot cheaper than the equivalent with TCD.

First thing - you won't be disappointed with First Choice airlines, they are really kicking the whole charter thing up the backside, with star class you have bigger luggage allowance and as Virgin have dropped theirs the only thing you're missing out on is the twilight/on line check in facility.

Don't worry about not having a car, WDw is so accessible without one, theres hardly any time that you'll miss it. The Mears shuttle takes about an hour from Sanford and you may have to wait until other flights have landed and their passengers have come through before you depart. This is the only thing that's a bit of a pain but as long as you have a snack, drink etc handy its not too bad.

Not wrong there Carol, didnt TC/Britannia announce a full overhaul of their Long Haul a few months ago? FC have led the way. The rest will follow.

yes, I'm sure it won't be long before they're all giving a better service, now if they could get a downtown disney style check in the other end they'd be on a winner. As soon as Virgin change over to homeworking staff and there are more and more disgruntled passengers FC will see passenger numbers soar

You can check in the day before with First Choice at Gatwick - they charge £5 per person I think but if you're styaing in a Premier hotel then it's free

We flew to Cancun this year with them and sat in economy at i found it very good - we booked with them specifically because the extra legroom seats

my only gripe was having to wait 3 hours before we were offered a drink (which we had to pay for) and they want to sell you everything but on the whole i would deffo fly with them again (but would probably upgrade )

We were really impressed with them this year when we flew to Cancun - food was good, very punctual flight. The planes were very modern and there is loads of space. The entertainment was good, and because you are in Premier, you will get games and pause / fast forward etc functions on films for free. You also don't pay for drinks.

We usually fly with BA or Virgin, and we were not disappointed at all - pleasantly surprised in fact, and that was just the basic Star Class.

We flew with them from Manchester this June and they were miles better than the other airlines we have flown with in the past. Thought about an upgrade but glad we didn't as the economy class was fine.

Only comment was the breakfast on the way back - cinnamon swirls???

Flying Virgin this year so will be interested to see how they compare.

don't know if you saw my other thread re FC and park passes /DDP
did you have to wait to the following to get all your paperwork or did you get it when you checked in ? My DD and I want to visit MK on the night we arrive and it looks like we might not get our passes etc til the welcome the nxt day ?

You should be able to pick them up at the FC desk at Sanford after you've gone through C&I and walk out the airport turn right there's a few desks on the left near the transportation area.
