I've done it - booked from 13th September for 2 weeks in CBR with First Choice. Originally wanted the thursday before or after (13th is Tuesday) but found the tuesday price was around £400 less - hope this is because its not a popular day and not for something else I should know about!!

2 adults, 2 kids (10,7) flights from Manchester with seats together and meals included (only have to pay for drinks - don't drink alcohol on flight), with car but no insurance (Natwest car ins for year £75) comes out at £1826 - I can't get near that price booking DIY. First choice have the new 767 planes with 33 seat pitch and seat back tv's.

DH has a few medical problems (stroke, hight blood pressure, irregular heartbeat) so insurance will cost us around £300 (quote from M&S and Airmiles) so its great to make a saving on the holiday cost. If anyone knows any insurance comps I can try for a cheaper quote I'd be grateful.

Can't express how excited I am and I'm old enough to know better!! :earsgirl:

Hi:wave:

Just wanted to say well done, its lovely when you get booked up.

Happy Planning.

Try Age Concern for the insurance. I hear that they will insure anyone and they don't ask for medical history - so I'm told.

Age concern are very competitive when quoting for travel insurance. My FIL used them last year and they were BY FAR the cheapest. However they definately do ask for a medical history.

Thanks guys. Already phoned Age Concern who quoted £164 for family single trip BEFORE DH medical history taken into account (others were around £100 + additional premium), so I didn't bother calling the medical screening line for the additional premium. I couldn't understand this as my own father has travelled with them before with health problems for a relatively small amount. Maybe I'll call them again, sometimes I think the call centre staff don't give you their full attention!

Just an additional note: today my friend tried to price the same package on First Choice website and its gone up by £600!! I've looked on and picked the same dates, flights, hotel, car, etc. and yes its showing my £1826 holiday for £2400!! Thank goodness the confirmation came in the post today or else I would have been panicking!!
