Has anyone had any experience of being charged for excess baggage with First Choice on their Orlando route?

We've just returned from a week where we had to assess the weight of everything we wanted to buy as we knew we were on a tight limit with First Choice (20 kgs) and didn't have much spare weight for coming home. When we checked in for the return flight last night, we were pretty much on the allowed limit (actually a little over on the cases, but a bit under on hand lugagge, so we were allowed through), but everyone else appeared to have a lot more than us!! I wasn't aware of anyone being charged for excess, but it may well have happened and I just didn't see it - does it happen, or were we too cautious and could have 'got away' with bringing more back?

There were a few things we would have liked to have brought back, but decided it wasn't worth risking the published £8 per kilo for anything over our allowance, so we'd be annoyed if we'd been careful but others were allowed through without being charged!

I have experienced charters being very hit and miss as far as excess baggage is concerned, they reserve the right to refuse to take any excess so its a huge risk trying to get extra through but an awful lot of people do. A client of mine actually took an extra 20kgs as well as his allowed 20 on a flight recently and wasn't charged a penny extra but I've had clients swear they were charged extra or made to leave things behind.
apart from that did you think the flight was up to scratch? where did you travel from?

When we flew with both First Choice and Thomson, we were lucky enough to upgrade to first class so had extra luggage allowance.

However, when we were checking in to come home, lots of people had their cases open and were throwing huge amounts away.

From other peoples experience, appears to be hit and miss however, I wouldnt risk it either.

LOL! Too many First Choice threads going on - this is what I posted on the 'merger' thread
We arrived home this morning after trying First Choice from Bristol for the first time - and we were really pleased with the price / service and SPACE! Their advertised long-haul leg-room lived up to expectations and is definitely more spacious than Virgin or BA economy .

We flew from Bristol. Outbound, we had to stop at Manchester for re-fuelling but remained on board - an uninspiring extra hour and a half (sorry Manchester, nothing personal;)) on the flight, but even that wouldn't deter me from doing the same again. It saves us soooo much time overall to be able to drive to the airport on the morning of the flight and straight home at the end of the trip instead of over-nighting in Gatwick outbound and then a day room before the drive home. We'd willingly pay a bit more for this convenience, but this trip First Choice were a really good price too (£259ish :) ) although that's not always the case.

hi
Travelling with First Choice in October from Bristol did you have problems getting your park passes as soon as you got to Sanford ? We're staying at POFQ and want to see wishes on our first night as i think it will be our only chance.
thx
