First Case of Swine Flu Reported @ Disney

Because you can also possibly die from it as well.

Just a news flash - Flu kills 36,000 people a year in the US. Every year.

An you can die from a plethora of other communicable diseases as well.

Sensationalism fans the flames of panic quicker than anything............

Traffic accidents kill a whole lot more every year. Would you call those statistics sensationalism, or informing the general public that they need to use care. Whether it's driving a motor vehicle, or walking around with a communicable disease, it's good to know the facts..............

I dunno'. How many times a day does the number of traffic fatalities get splattered across the news???

BTW, I'm well aware of that fact. Why just yesterday I got to help cut 2 people out of a car that got t boned by a van that ran a red light. 1 critical, 1 serious, 2 helicopter rides.

I also got exposed to Hep C last month.

I am well aware of the "facts" my friend. I do not play the sensationalism game.

You imply in your original statement that swine flu is the only communicable disease that causes death. It is not, by a long shot.

BTW - I DO agree with you. If you are sick, do not go to WDW. Or work. Or the grocery store. Or anywhere else for that matter except maybe the ER if you have severe shortness of breath or chest pain.

Little known fact: Most workplace illness is caused by sick people coming to work instead of staying home................

No, No NO!!!!

There is NO Captain Tripps!!!!!!!

(And BTW, as of this morning, no confirmed swine flu in Florida....... )

Want to see panic--just look at the merged threads on the Theme Parks board. New post about every 10 seconds.....

Ya know about 36,000 die every year during the regular flu season. . . . . let's put it in perspective shall we. Even some of the experts are saying this is getting ridiculous (Dr. Tim Johnson from WNT) Talk about a media-driven/hyped story . . . . . .

The media has blowin this flu so out of proportion. Come On - people die from flu every year. This along with other flus will go away in time. I agree with Uncleromulus read "The Stand".

The mini-series was pretty good too.
Meanwhile back at the ranch--they are continuing to whip themselves into a total frenzy over on the Theme Parks Board. The merged flu thread now has 1,300 posts.
Not counting all the threads on other boards--.

A possible 'benefit' other than smaller crowds might be an increase in personal space. Now when someone gets too close to you while you're waiting on line for an attraction, just give a little cough.

Oh, Pete, that's below the belt.

Last week, I had stepped in dog doo out in the yard. I had these shoes on that have small treads on them. I thought I had gotten it all out, but after a while, you don't notice your own smell. Anyway, an hour later, I took the kids to a movie. It was pretty crowded in the theatre and these noisy kids were in front of us. After about ten minutes, they got up and moved away. I took my shoe and smelled it and while it wasn't enough to make me notice, it was enough to make them move. Kids told me I should bring dog stuff with me when we go to WDW so we can clear out the crowds. Now I'm glad to think I just have to cough...:sad2:

Reading that mega-thread over on the Theme parks Board (which is now at 1,400 posts and 74,000 views), I now think I am taking this whole thing much too lightly.
Seems now every Doctor, nurse and hospital orderly have suddenly become experts on the flu. But I'm having none of that.
I'm going with a real team of experts:
"Calling Dr. Larry, Dr. Mo, Dr. Curley"

Uncleromulus you are too much. I think they should hire Dr's Larry, Mo & Currey. I know then that we will get to the bottom of this. They will have this thing cured in no time. Yak, Yak, Yak.....................

And in todays paper, they are now saying that, in essence, the whole thing was a flop, and apparentley blown way out of proportion, although I would agree with Pete W about the more space in the parks bit. The parks have been so miserably crowded in recent years, and I was kind of wishing that a lot of folks would stay away......oh well :sad2:

Not slowing them down on the Theme Parks Board. Still piling up the posts (1,700) and the views (85,000)

While I agree with the "if your sick stay home" statement... that is not always going to happen.
I say... take care of your family the best you can. Bring what you think you need to do this and if you have a change in health while on vacation do the right thing for your family and others.
