Tomorrow marks the 18 month waiting period for us, whoohoo!:cheer2: I've heard that you can call as early as 18 months, and that some people have gotten penciled in and others have not. My question is, what exactly happens the first time you call? I know most of the basic information, thanks to everyone here at the dis. Do they send out any information packets? And I was also wondering about a site visit. Would I be able to talk to them about that in our first conversation? And how early can you go and check out the sites? I know there's a lot of questions mixed in here, thank you all for your help!

My first call (I wish I recorded it in my PJ!) went like this

The took all my information, bride, groom, estimated budget, estimated guest list, what I was looking for. I specifically stated I wanted a site visit and that I would be in Orlando the last week in August
The assistant handled these details

Then the Sales Coordinator called me a couple days later and we spoke a little bit about basic details, minimums and such. She took down my locaton choices, and the dates I was looking at. We talked alot about the heat in regards to my choices because I'm getting married in August. I believe we scheduled the site visit at this time, not sure.

She then sent me a folder with Videography, photography, sample menus, the sample save the date (the old one), vendor information, a timeline and I forget what else.

I wasn't penciled in anywhere at the 18th month mark, but she did take down my dates & choices and told me if they were available. The Living Seas is used by conventions and can be booked way in advance by conventions.

I had some basic questions I wanted to know. DF and I considered a WDW wedding before going with a DCL wedding a few months later.

I had a list of questions for them including minimums for what days/times, options for locations - really things that corresponded to the price. (All comes down to money!) It was a bit different for us b/c we live in Orlando so I scheduled a meeting right away rather than talking on the phone. It was just my preference. When df and I met with a planner at Franck's he showed us some photos of places we were interested in and offered to take us to the locations then and there so we saw the Living Seas venue. (Very nice and perfect for a small group.)

Thanks so much! I always get a little bit nervous talking on the phone when I'm not sure exactly what to say, and this will help me out a lot.

You live in Orlando? How lucky! I joke with DF all the time about how we should move there.

You can get pencilled in at the 12 month mark.

How long to do they take to call you back? I called on a Monday first thing in the morning and left my name and number, but they never called back! I thought I'd have heard something today. Are they good about it, or do you have to politely hassle them?

I called a few days before the 12 month mark. After a week without hearing anything, I called Disney again and they explained that my sales cordinator was on vacation, and I heard back from someone that day.

I called today and talked to Cathy. She did not ask me any questions at all!

I had some questions for her, but got a little intimidated to ask because she was very short and to the point. She didn't even say Congratulations?!?

I guess I thought the call would have a bit more Disney flair.::MinnieMo

What a horrible experience! I don't remember the name of the lady that I spoke to, but she congratulated me at least twice. Maybe the lady you spoke to was just having a bad day or something.:confused3

How are you guys getting through? Everytime I call (during busines hours), it just comes on as a recording to leave my name and number....still no call back since Monday.

I called around 11am my time, which is noon in Orlando and I got through just fine. I guess it just depends if everyone's tied up or not.

Did you mention when you wanted your wedding?

I am just curious because that may be why. I called Disney and got a response the next day but I was 8 months out from the date I wanted. I wonder if it has anything to do with your wedding being 18 months out. :confused3 They have so many weddings to deal with they just might be prioritizing. Not sure though.

I FINALLY GOT THROUGH! I guess they didn't have enough people to answer the phones, so it went to voicemail. I got through at about 3 pm, and a coordinator is supposed to call me back tomorrow, yay!!! Thanks for the advice, I was starting to freak out, lol!
