DS turns 1 on our trip

We were originally going to take our DS to Disney in the middle of the winter so we could enjoy some nice, warm Florida weather. But, with all of the great AP rates available this fall, we decided to take him for his first birthday! Don't know how we'll top this next year, unless it's another trip to Disney World!!

We got up around 5:30 and left for Bradley International by 6:50. There was no traffic and we made it, stopping for gas, coffee and bagels by 8:30. We went easily through security and then proceeded to sit for the next 2.5 hours. This was my first time flying SWA, so I was a bit nervous about the seating. Thankfully, we were able to preboard with our DS, carseat, stroller and only 3 carry-ons. It was an uneventful flight, thank goodness. DS was great except for the last 10 minutes. He screamed and pulled at both of his ears. My doctor didn't recommend the earplanes for him, so I just relied on his pacifier, bottle and trying to get him to eat. But, he refused and just screamed. It actually wasn't too bad. Everyone was understanding and he was fine as soon as we landed. Other than that, he slept and ate his lunch during the 2.5 hour flight.

We were picked up by TTC, sorry, can't remember the driver's name but he was excellent! Took the 1/2 hour grocery stop at Publix to pick up some bottled water and baby items for the week. Then, we arrived at the YC. Boy, were we impressed. We loved the decor and felt right at home immediately. Check in was very quick. I had pre-paid the room already so we just grabbed some park brochures and set off to our room. I had only paid for a standard view, but we were upgraded to a water view. Granted, there was a tree in the way, but we could see the marina. I wouldn't have paid extra for that view with the tree, but it was a nice treat. The only complaint I have about the room is that it was a very far walk from the lobbey, pool etc. We were room #1011.

After a quick unpacking and letting the baby crawl around for awhile, we headed to Beaches and Cream. The food, atmosphere and service were excellent. There was even another little boy in the place wearing the exact same outfit my son was wearing. Both sets of parents thought that this was cute.

We strolled around the YC, taking in the sights and then headed back to the room. We thought about trying to hit Epcot for Illuminations, but figured a dip in the pool would be more relaxing for the baby. The only other complaint I have is that at night, the pool was definately not heated enough. We only stayed in about 10 minutes because the baby began to shiver. We grabbed a sundae from B & C, it was huge, we're glad we shared. We had a nice walk back to the room and then to bed. We were a bit nervous about sleeping in the same room with the baby, but he was great. We put him to bed and just kept the tv on low. We had requested a full size crib and they also brought a pack-n-play. We used both. The baby slept in the crib and we kept his toys in the pack-n-play. We would put him in it sometimes while we were getting ready in the morning. He enjoyed having a different place to play. We also use one at home so he was used to it. A note about the crib, I saw two sizes while we were there. They also have fitted crib sheets and Disney babies bumper pads. Even with the crib and pack-n-play in the room, we had plenty of room. We even left the stroller up in the corner without any trouble. We didn't have a daybed though, we had a chair and a table with two chairs.

It was a great travel/relaxation day. Tomorrow, we hit the parks!!!!!

Sounds like a nice start to the trip. How cute that both babies were wearing the same outfit! :)

their way to give both a crib and a pack andplay......that is nice......I shivered in the pool too and it was hot outside...thannks again

This is a great beginning. Too bad the landing bothered the babies ears so much. Thanks for posting this.
