First airline to go maskless (Jet2 - a UK airline), Now British Airways and Virgin Atlantic

Crazy...in our area there are 3 main airports.....Newark (EWR), LaGuardia (LGA) and John F. Kennedy (JFK).

Two of the three still require a mask in the airport LGA and JFK. EWR does not require a mask anymore as it is in NJ and not in NY.

PHL requires masks since Philly restarted their indoor mask mandate 4/18. So I can take the train to the airport maskless but once I enter the airport I have to wear a mask but once I board the plane I can go maskless. 🤦🏻‍♀️

How about at the airport terminals? I'm just wondering as we fly out on April 30th from Detroit.

We flew into DTW late last night and few people were wearing masks. I didn't notice if they still have "masks required" signs posted so I don't know what official policy is, but the majority of people in the terminal were unmasked.

But even at the ones requiring it, compliance appears to be dropping and no one is reminding unmasked people of the rule. We left LGA at about 8pm last night and I'd say about a quarter of people in the very busy Delta terminal were unmasked, including quite a few airline employees. There are still signs reminding people of the requirement but airport personnel aren't pushing the issue. I was impressed, though, at how good compliance still is on the NY subways. Pretty much the only unmasked people we saw on transit during our week in the city were very obviously tourists, mostly (by appearances/accents) from the south or midwest.

Funny, our neighbor who just flew through LGA yesterday as well said the same exact thing....compliance and enforcement was really hit or miss.

Thank you.

Just boarded a plane and we are maskless! :D (London Heathrow - Amsterdam - KLM Royal Dutch Airlines).
Our recent trip to the Netherlands (KLM), when we boarded in Los Angeles, immediately after taking off, the pilot announced, "In the Netherlands we don't have to wear masks, so you don't have to wear your masks onboard."

On the flight back (Amsterdam to Los Angeles), the pilot announced "You must wear your mask at all times onboard, except when actively eating".
