DW and I are staying at the Beach Club for 4 nights over a long weekend in March for my birthday and leaving the kids home. One night we plan on checking out Jellyrolls after dinner at the Flying Fish, and on my birthday we have a dinner followed by Wishes at Narcoossee's. My question is re: DTD. Now that Pleasure Island is a barren family friendly "retail area", is it worth making the trek via bus over there at night? Does House of Blues have live music every night? The Dropkick Murphys are playing one night, which is right up my ally, but DW wants no part of "Irish Music" in her words. I don't see anything on the HOB website schedule for the night after, but wonder if they'll have any music going on. I know Raglan Road has live music - is it too "Irishy" for DW, and is it every night? Finally, there was someone playing at the bar at Paridisio 37 when we walked by in December. Is that worth a stop? Any other recomendations that we could get to sans car? Planet Hollywood has no appeal to either of us. Maybe the best bet is drinking our way around the WS and stumbling back to our room since we're right there.

Thanks for any help.

Well Atlantic Dance Hall is directly across from Jellyrolls at the Boardwalk and it follows the same format that Motion (on PI) used to follow with music videos playing mostly Top 40. During the week it's only crowded if meetings/convention(s) are happening at the Swan/Dolphin hotel complex. Friday and Saturday nights are usually pretty crowded too on a more consistent basis. Admission is free.

Pleasure Island is pretty dead and yes, that's Irish music at Raglan Road. I've only heard acoustic music played at Paradiso 37. If the HOB website does not show anything playing at their club, then there isn't anything. (Except Sunday nights which are not usually listed on the HOB website but they do have a DJ playing mostly techno from 10:30pm onward.)

I cover these sorts of things on my non-commercial blog:

Oh thank God KingBob came and replied. . .I love Atlantic Dance Hall and JR's. . .but do a fair amount of room (we call it Party Central) partying. . .

You could have been posting for me! I think you are even there when we are! (March 3-8th) My DH would be so psyched to see the Dropkick Murphy's! I'm just not sure if I want to do that on my last night of our trip.

We are staying at the Boardwalk. We plan to enjoy the WS tremendously!!! I am looking forward to doing Jellyrolls and also spending some time at ESPN.

We did Paradiso last December, too. Loved it. We sat away from the water. From there we could see and hear people enjoying the dance party with the DJ. We plan to go back to Paradiso for sure.

I toyed with doing Cirque de Soleil. I wish I was on the ball and booked the Breathless II (looks so romantic). If you want to do something quiet and romantic one night, try going over to the Polynesian beach in time for Wishes. There are speakers that play the soundtrack. Maybe the pool bar will be open and you can even sit with cocktails and enjoy the moment!

Enjoy your trip!!

Sounds very familiar. We'll be there from the 5th to the 9th. We love the BW, but chose BC because we've never stayed there before. Wishes from the Poly is awesome - did it when we were down there in December w/ the kids. We also toyed w/ Cirque, but wanted to leave at least one night open to be in a park - both of are really looking forward to being able to wander around and close a park without worrying about getting tired kids to bed. Paradisio sounds really cool - we may check that out.

Maybe we'll run into you on the Boardwalk on in the WS. We'll be the couple with no strollers, a yellow and black backpack, and big grins!

We love Paradiso 37 for the food and entertainment. They have live music every night I have been there.

We also love Jellyrolls. We went there on a Sunday night in July and it was crowded but great. Then on the following Wednesday it was FILLLED with cm's getting frisky and drunk. Don't know if Weds is their shift change or if it was a fluke. Still fun but definately liked Sunday better.

Raglan Road does have nightly live music but it is totally Irish. We love them but sounds like your DW won't like them. They also have a step dancer!

HOB has some good acts, I check the website before I head down. My last trip Galactica and JJ Grey was playing. I did not get to see them due to the marathon, but maybe next time.
