First actual DVC stay

Surprisingly, no! They called me in my room to meet my shopper because they wouldn’t accept from her. I double checked with bell services when I arrived and they confirmed they couldn’t hold my food. I was glad I was at least at the hotel. This was at Kidani. No problem with receiving Instacart food at BCV though. My shopper was super nice about it, thankfully.
Very odd. We do 1-2 trips most years at Kidani, and have had no issues with deliveries. Maybe a recent change? I sure hope not.

First actual DVC stay. We’ve been really loving the comfort and space of the rooms. The common areas are so relaxed and quiet and beautiful, too. I thought the “welcome home!” thing was a little corny before, but my kids keep slipping up when we are out, saying “it’s late; we should go home!”, so I guess there’s something to it. I am so thankful for the great sleep and in room breakfasts. My only complaint is that I brought two types of coffee filters, and neither were correct for the coffee machine we had. 🤣

A few weeks ago I worried “what if we don’t love going to Disney parks forever?”, but I could just come down here in the winter without the parks and enjoy the 60+ degree temperature difference. Love staying on property. Even with “chilly” Florida weather, it feels like a cold summer here right now; I love it.
We bought on the basis we would just use it for winter sun when we were older. We are now older and have used it once like this together only for two nights as we were on our way to a cruise and I did one solo 8 night resort only trip. We are doing one last trip to the parks with 22 year old next year then i suspect never again. After that plan is aulani and Orlando and Vero in rotation in winter

That is very odd. I had a Walmart+ delivery sent to Bell Services and then brought up this last February.

I sort of wondered if it was a CM misunderstanding or training issue, but they seemed very adamant. It struck me as odd. Especially since BCV had no issues accepting and delivering on our behalf.

Always love reading about these experiences. We are 10 years in and like most, wish we had bought earlier but love how our trips change. We checked off Vero back in December since we were in town for a softball tournament and got to relax and enjoy a resort with Disney touches and one other thing I realized that stay, Disney people. We talked to many other DVC owners (and non-owners) and we often all share a love of Disney. Some were going on a cruise while others always came down south to avoid winter and celebrate at the resort. We love how each trip is different and we try new things. I like others worry about our DD “outgrowing” the mouse and this year was our first year of HS and it has changed our ability to go but still seems to love it and can’t wait to go (hopefully) with her band to Disney.

Welcome home!

I'm sure to the outside observer welcome home sounds sort of weird/cringey but it definitely means something. You just get a feeling knowing you're on Disney property in a place that you're familiar with and you can relax and take it easy. It seems dumb but when you see those words when you walk into your resort and you get a hit of the lobby smell there really is something nostalgic about it and you'll get that feeling each time you go back.

Prior to DVC I wasn't nearly into the resorts as I am now. I still love the parks but I now view the resorts as an extension that is just as if not more important than the parks. Regardless of if I'm staying at Art of Animation or Riviera, the park experience is the same once you're inside any of them but the resort can change a trip entirely which is why I find myself asking people like was said above where did you stay?

I appreciate hearing "Welcome Home" going though US Customs - although it seems less frequent these days.

The first time I heard it at DVC, I felt it was a bit odd/over-the-top, but it grows on you.

I remember hearing “Welcome Home!” when we arrived at BWV for our first visit as owners, and it made me feel so special! As you say, I felt that I could relax completely and truly enjoy our vacation, and I still feel that way every time we arrive.
