I have booked the adult only Alaskan interior for next August and am very excited. Thanks to those on this forum that helped with my initial questions. I do have a couple of follow up questions.

Do most of you use the Abd insurance or purchase separate policies? Any advantages to insurance with Disney over private? For instance on the cruises if insurance denies claim you can use amount towards future cruise...etc.

Also, it looked like I can cancel up to 90 days with full refund. Is that correct. Not that I intend on canceling

I think that's it for now but I am sure I will come up with more later.

I've purchased the ABD insurance and purchased it on my own. With a child it is sometimes less expensive to buy it on you own, but that wouldn't be a concern to you since you're on an adult trip. I can't say if there is any advantage to purchasing through ABD, since, fortunately, I've never had to file a claim.

Unless they have completely changed the cancellation policy this year, you have 14 days to cancel with no penalty. This is the cancellation policy from my travel agreement last year:

"regardless of when you book, your US$300 deposit is refundable for 14 calendar days after original booking, notwithstanding the following cancellation fees, calculated in calendar days prior to vacation start date and irrespective of resale by us: 90 days or more: US$300 per person; 60-89 days: 25% of the land package price; 30-59 days: 50% of the land package price; 0-29 days: 100% of the land package price. No refunds will be made in the event of interruption or cancellation by you after the vacation start date."

Bobo912 helped you with the cancellation question.

As far as insurance is concerned, depending on how old you are, the ABD insurance *can* be cheaper than private insurance, as they don't charge more as you get older. Private insurance does. However, the downside of ABD insurance is that ABD's insurance only covers what you book through ABD. If you book your airfare and/or your pre-post days through them, you're good. Otherwise, you're not covered for those things you book yourself. The only exception is if you fly to the city where the ABD starts, and from the city that the ABD ends, your airfare is included even if you book it yourself. (At least this was true last time I checked). But any hotel rooms you book on your own, tours you pay for yourself, etc, or flights into or out of another city would not be covered.

And ABD's insurance does not have the clause that DCL's does where they'll give you a future credit if the insurance denies your claim. DCL is the only place I've heard of that does that.

We did a super quick search on insurance options prior to booking our 2016 Machu Picchu ABD trip. We could find less expensive insurance that looked like they offered comparable coverage to Disney but we figured Disney would be easier if we ran into any issues.

The insurance is only in case of cancellation, correct? What about health insurance for just in case scenarios?

No, most trip insurance, including that sold by ABD, includes medical coverage as well as cancellation coverage. I would never buy trip insurance for an international trip that didn't include medical coverage. A lot of people's personal medical insurance does not cover you outside of the USA.
