Firm Check Week 5

I did Complete Aerobics and Weight Training this morning.
I am getting a little better at this one also.

Yesterday I was sooo lazy. It was our 7 year anniversary and there was food a-plenty and I enjoyed myself... maybe to much. Plus my DS got completely off his schedule and my biking time disappeared. So it was a high calorie low movement day. Ah well, thats over and I am back on track!

vfb2girlsl - I am new to this group also. Its my second week doing the FIRM. I have BSS2 and do those 3 days a week with biking and walking on my rest days (except when celebrating, apparently;) ).

Thanks for the encouragement guys.
This thread is great for keeping me motivated.

Hi guys! Just checking in right quick.

Today was a rest day for me. I think my body was ready to revolt! I'm feeling a little bit better for sleeping but I'll be back at it tomorrow with body sculpt (upper body).

I hope you all have a great afternoon!

Hey guys,
Just a quick check-in. I have been so busy today that I haven't been able to post.

This morning I did FIRM Cardio!

Everyone is doing such a fabulous job. Keep up the great work!

Hi FIRMies

This has been a BUSY week and I haven't been able to post but I have been working out and thinking about you guys. I have kicked up my training a bit for the the WDW 1/2 marathon along with doing the FIRM this week. I started the Couch to 5K Running Plan and if I stick with it I'll be able to run 3 miles on regular basis in 2 months!

Monday I did 35 min walk/jog on the treadmill and then I did Complete Aerobics and Weight Training from BSS2. Whew what a workout, my legs were sore yesterday ;) . Yesterday was a hectic day so it was a rest day. Today I did 35 min walk/jog on treadmill and Total Sculpt Plus Abs fro BSS2. I'll see how I feel tomorrow but it might become another rest day if I am sore again, otherwise I might try Cardio Sculpt Blaster because it is short. I am really glad I bought BSS2!! I really liked both these tapes and the time seemed to fly by but I think I might repeat 1 of them a few times to get the moves down better and then work on mastering the moves on the others. I really felt uncoordinated today and I'd like to get the moves down better.

Everbody is doing so great and this thread sure is motivating!!

Cheryl

Well the little miss was upat 5:50am just as I was going to do the fanny lifter with Jenn Carmen and TSwith abs. But I got in about 20 minutes before I had to stop. Will give it another try tomorrow. You guys are so motivating.

FIRMIES!
Sleep or lack thereof, seems to be a recurring theme this week. S&K'smom, Sorry your workout got abbreviated---better luck next time.
My sleep problem was my own. Last night, I was up from 2:30 AM to god knows when-about 4 AM. So when the alarm went off at 5:30 AM, I sent DH on his way downstairs for AbSculpt & took the morning off. There is alot going on in our lives now & I've always had sleep disturbance problems when I go to sleep with alot on my mind. My plan for a gung-ho week of long tape exercising this week is not going well. But I still have Firday, Saturday & Sunday, before DSs are back in school & my time in the AM get constricted.
Friday should be a good exercise day because the washing machine is being replaced & I'm staying home w/ DS(9) to take delivery. I can try a mid-day workout, if all goes well.
Have a happy & healthy day! SGG

Hi FIRMies....

I am so bad, I didn't get up at 5am this morning and exercise. I have plans to go home tonight and do it from 6-7pm. I have already forewarned my kids. I plan on doing FIRM Strength tonight.

Tomorrow is my rest day. I was half tempted to make today my rest day, but I like being able to sleep in on Fridays. Friday nights are not good for being able to work out since we have Family Night.

Sue- Sorry to hear you are having sleep problems. I hope they get better.

S&k's mom- Glad you got at least 20 in, at least it's something.

Cheryl- Great job on the running. If I ever get my treadmill, I want to add some running burst in to my walking training.

Have a great day everyone!

Well I worked out this evening,

but guess what I got to workout with..........

The New FIRM BSS3!!!!!!

It came in the mail today. I have been asking DD to tell me if a package comes in and she didn't say anything today. Imagine my suprise and excitement when I walk in the door and its sitting in my living room. She could almost not bring it in the house it was so heavy.

I did Total Muscle Shaping with Stephanie Huckabee. Wow is it hard. I really like the new box and found it sturdy. You have to be careful when stepping on the outside of the box. Not the outside near the legs but the outside of the box on the long side where there are no legs. It can be a bit wobbly there. The Fanny lifter can be wobbly too if you step on the ends of it as well, so I think its just a matter of getting used to it. It also didn't move on my carpet. Only once in incline position did it move ever so slightly, but then it didn't move again. I still might try some type of matt underneath it to see if it helps the wobbly, but I felt totally safe on top of it. Only once did I felt like I could tip it, while doing step moves, but I also feel like that on the fanny lifter once in a while.
The tape was really tough!! I couldn't finish all the reps on some of the upper body and a few of the lower body moves. This tape is a Sculpt and cardio.
I also bought 10lb weights today and I think I made the mistake of adding them a few times to my workout. I should have done it with what I am currently using. I really like it though! Can't wait to get the moves down and see how the cardio keeps my heart rate up.
My favorite part was the cardio on the incline. Very fun and different. The ab work on this was killer on the incline. And a really different hard plank version!

Hmm, I don't know if I want to make tomorrow a rest day lol!

Hi guys!

It's been a busy last couple of days for me but I've been thinking about my fellow FIRMies. Today was BSS1 body sculpt (lower body) for me. This is the first time I have done this particular portion of the video since I have lost weight and I could tell the difference. It was a lot easier. The work out itself was still hard but not as hard as it used to be so I'm happy with that!

Melanie - thanks for giving us a preview of BSS1. It sounds tough but fun. I know you'll get the moves down soon!

sue - I'm sorry you've got so much on your mind. But you are doing well with your workouts. Keep it up and I'm sure Friday will be your day to get in that long work out.

s&k'smom - Even 20 minutes with a FIRM work out is excellent work in my book. Keep it up and I hope you can go longer tomorrow.

Cheryl - I hope to buy BSS2 one day. I love BSS1 and I bought Cardio scult blast which is quickly becoming my new favorite. You are doing so well!

I'll check in with you all tomorrow. Have a good night!

Good Morning Firmies,

Well I just had to get up and try Fat Blasting Cardio with Lisa Kay. Today is my rest day, the good thing is that I watched most of it with that dumb found look, jaw dropped. I am sure you can all relate. This tape is so much fun with a lot of over the top and different type moves. I think once I get it down, I will love it because of the moves (why I love SUper Cardio Sculpt). I am sweaty, and I couldn't do all of it because of being lost. It's 35 minutes so it went super fast. Once I get the moves down I am sure I will get a super 35 minute workout.

The box did move forward some on the incline during the lunge portion, so I have to play around with that. It wasn't real bad and only slightly moved most times I lunged.

I am hoping to practice a section or two slowly after work. Not sure if I will have time though. Maybe if DH makes pizza tonight I will have time.

Lisa- Body Sculpt is such a killer. The lower body portion makes me want to go back to bed!!

Have a good day everyone.

Morning firmies, did Super Cardio with Nancy this morning then hopped over to my tv show to do some abs.

Melanie I'm so jealous you have the 3rd set. I think I'm going to call and order today as I need to add more variety to my tapes.

Not in a great place this am (long story) so I'll check back later.

FIRMIES!
WOW Melanie, BSS3. I've been debating a new FIRM purchase for myself, but I'm undecided on which direction to go. So I'll be looking forward to your reviews of BSS3. Is it just that new "fancy" step or is it the sculpting stick too?
As the saying goes:"Every cloud has a silver lining". Broken washing machine & $600 to replace it=black cloud. Day home w/ DS(9) & the best workout of the week=silver lining. I just love Super Body Sculpt & although I should have gone for a longer tape, like Cardio Sculpt, I just needed a positive exercise experience & I knew SBS was my best bet. Stephanie Corley didn't let me down.
I love the "luxury" of exercising during the day, rather than 5:30AM. Although the phone rang 3 times, DS fielded the calls & I stubbornly finished the whole tape, pausing before Abs for DH.(who didn't expect I would exercise so early & was trying to get me before I exercised)
As I write, I just had a novel(for me) thought. Maybe I'll exercise twice today. My day is my own--except for errands & DS's desire for a play date. DH is going directly from work to his Fantasy Baseball draft & oldest DS is still in FL for BB. I'll keep you posted.
Have a healthy & happy day! SGG

Good morning FIRMies!
Today was Complete Aerobics and Weight Training. Whew! :faint: That is a tough workout! I am really glad that DH bought BSS2 for me because it is really challenging my muscles and making me feel even stronger.::yes::

I tried doing "shout outs" for everyone today, but when I clicked submit, it wouldn't go through. I guess my post was too long.;)

You are all doing a fantastic job! I really appreciate all of the encouragement and support that I get here.::yes:: FIRMies are fabulous! Keep up the good work everyone!!:Pinkbounc

Have a great Friday!

Tracy:wave2:

Yesterday I did Complete Aerobics and Weight Training with Emily. It is my favorite tape at the moment. I added in some weights and tried doing the more complex ab moves - made for a very tough workout!

Good morning FIRMies!

I am just so pumped from reading all your wonderful experiences today! This morning I did Cardio Sculpt Blast with Lisa Kaye. Fabulous work out. This one is quickly becoming my absolute favorite! I love when Lisa Kaye says, "It's gettin' hot in here!" and "Are you sweatin' yet?" Awesome inspiration! Plus I love that it's 30 minutes from start to finish so I can get a complete work out in the minimum amount of time.

I got on the scale this morning and I'm down 2 more pounds from my Sunday weight. That puts me at my goal for the April 1 challenge but I want to wait until official weigh in day on Sunday before celebrating. Anything can happen over the next two days and TOM is here in full force so the scale could be up or down by Sunday.

Melanie - BSS3 sounds awesome. Does it have different equipment from BSS1 and/or BSS2? Also, please let us know as you continue to go through them if you prefer this new series over BSS2. I'm thinking about adding one of them. Keep up the great work!

s&k'smom - good job with getting your work out in this morning. I hope everything is okay with you.

sue - you and I think alike. I was wondering if I could squeeze in another work out this evening. I feel so good right now and I was thinking about doing abs tonight after my company leaves. We'll see. Anyway, good for you in being determined to get that long work out in. You go!!!!

Tracy - it sounds like you had a great work out this morning too! BSS2 looks so challenging so I'm sure you'll be looking awesome in no time!

Amanda - I'm proud of you for doing the advanced moves on that work out tape. It really kicks it up a notch when you do the harder moves. Keep up the great work!!!!

I hope everyone has a great Friday! :)

How do you do push ups with a wrist brace?
My doc perscribed a serious brace for my left wrist and I can't move it in this thing. Its even hard to type. At least its black...slimming ;)
So, for a week or so, until the swelling goes down I am going to need to find something else to do when the workouts call for push ups, etc.
I think I can still do regular curls with light weights, we will have to see.
I am going to try to get some biking in today for my cardio and dive back into Total sculpt with Jen on Monday - without the push-ups.

Have a great weekend everyone. Keep up the great workouts. You guys help me stay motivated. Thanks.

Well I am happy to report that I worked out with the firm Monday through Friday. It was a challege but I made it through! I usually take the week-end off from working out, my old body can't handle it, but will once again start up on Monday. Great job to all that worked out.:hyper:

FIRMIES!
danicaw, Do you have AbSculpt with Lisa Kay? It's a good short workout with no weights. Easy on the wrist, but tough on the Abs. Good Luck..injuries of any kind are so stressful.

Good work, vfb2girls! You'll know you're hooked when you don't want to take the WHOLE weekend off LOL!

toystoryduo, Complete Aerobics with Weight Training sounds like quite a workout- even the title sounds challenging!

Well, I didn't get my second workout in yesterday. (Hope you had better luck, ZerasPride!) I guess I always underestimate the time needed for errands. But I know I continued to feel good about exercising because I reached for Standing Legs this AM. My most challenging tape. I'm still SWEATING as I type.
A historical note-guess who I spotted in the back of the Standing Legs FIRMERs - a young (& less blond) Libby. I've done this tape several times before & I guess I was always too intent on finishing it to "take in the scenery". So Libby has been firming for a while. The Standing Leg tape is one of my antique tapes (Part of the FIRM 4 pk.)
Have a happy & healthy day! SGG

Good Saturday morning FIRMies......

Well this morning was Complete Body Sculpting with Christa Riley. She designed this tape to go heavy with the weights. I really love the Hubba Bubba song that they play during one of the cardio box segments. I think that Stephanies tape was much harder. I could barely lift with the muscles she used in that one. This one was good though and went very quick.

One thing I must say is that I really love the incline on the box for lunges and doing pec fly's. You get such a range of motion doing pec fly's!! I also really liked doing push-ups with your leg on the incline and hands on the floor. Probably the best push ups I ever did (this was in Stephanies tape).

I also did the 2 new Pam tapes I got by ordering the Deluxe BSS3 system. The first one was FIRM Hips, Thighs and Abs. This tape is set up so you can do either the FIRM hips and Thighs or just abs. When you get done with the hips and thighs she tells you to add start the ab section to add on the abs to the hips and thighs section. The hip and thigh section was tough!! At the beggining of the tape, my thighs were shaking. I have to get used to the sections that have you keep your leg out and use the sculpting stick. I had a hard time balancing the stick and doing the work. I didn't get a great workout today, because I had already worked out and was just getting used to what she was doing and trying to balance the stick. It seemed like it would be a great workout though and I love that you do it while you are BAREFOOT!! The ab section was really good. There was no warm up except for sweeping arms side to side, so this is a great ab workout to add on to the end of a tape without an ab -workout without having to spend time either doing or fastfarwding a warm-up. I still am trying to get used to the ab work on the incline. Its tough and hard to hold yourself up. I am using a towel now, but plan to get a yoga sticky mat.

The next tape I did was Pams Express Total Body Shaping tape. This uses only a sculpting stick (no box or dumbells). Its 35 minutes. I love how you use your own body for resistance on a lot of moves. This was tough for a 35 minute workout with now weights. Aerobics mixed in here and there to keep your heart rate up. This would be a great tape to take on vacation and do in your hotel room. We take our portable DVD player for the kids, so it would only require bringing my stick.

I ended up exercising again for more than 2 hours, but I feel really good. Saturday is a great day to get a tough workout in.

Sue- Great job on Standing legs. That is definately a tough tape, and the one time I tried it I couldn't do it because my knees were bothering me. Now that my knees are better, I should try it again. I hear it is killer!!
The BSS3 does have the new fancy step, but 2 of the add on tapes use the sculpting stick. The Express Total Body Shaping only uses the stick and nothing else.

vfb2girls- Way to go getting all your M-F workouts in. It's so addicting. Just wait till you get stronger and you find you have a hard time taking time off!! Who would ever think it!!

danicaw- Take it easy with your wrist. Don't do any lifting with it. I agree with the Ab sculpt. Just take it easy, or you will cause more damage, and that isn't good!

LISA- Way to go on your weight loss. OMG you are at Goal!! I'll wait till it's official though so I don't jinx you! Congrats!
The BSS3 has a new FIRM box that is longer , has a 6 inch section and goes up to 14 inches. It also can be used with one leg down at an incline. I really like the incline. 2 of the new add on tapes use the sculpting stick. The rest do not.
Do I prefer it over BSS2, tough question. They are both totally different. I think since I started with BSS2, I am partial to those. The new box is really cool and different though. These workouts are tough and fun. There is a great deal right now for the BSS3 with the box for 59. Also, there is a special for the BSS2 for $59 that inludes the box and the sculpting stick. I guess it just depends. I have seen the BSS2 in just DVD's at Walmart. So if you already have a sculpting stick and fanny lifter that might be cheaper.
I would say both are worth getting. Maybe the BSS2 is the one you should do first. I reall love those workouts.

Amanda, Thats my favorite tape too. It's definately a tough video.

Tracy- Glad DH got you BSS2. That is what I started with and I love it!

s&k'smom- If you get the BSS3, I think you will LOVE it!

Kim- If you read this, I hope you are doing well. I hope you aren't feeling so blue anymore.

Good Afternoon Firm Buddies! I just got done with Total Sculpt plus Abs for BSS2. For those of you with this tape I have a couple of questions:

1) Do you find the ab segment challenging? I've always had strong abs but I just find these exercises to be uncomfortable and clumsy. I just tend to do my own.

2) The cool down period - is it just me or is it extra long on this tape? We are not even half way through and I'm already breathing normal and feeling streched out. Plus I'm not one for Yoga moves so I tend to do basic stretches like they use in Complete Aerobics.

Just wondering if I am the only one who feels this way. Otherwise it is a great tape and really makes you sweat - although Jen isn't my favorite - something about her irks me ;)

Melanie - Dang Girl! I can barely get through 1 tape and you are doing 3! Sounds like the BSS3 is a great workout! I like the fact that one is barefoot. I know on my tapes as soon as we start doing floor work I take off my shoes and socks.

Lisa - thanks for the encouragment! I need all I can get!

~Amanda
