Fireworks

We'll be coming in on the last Grad night and are planning on visiting Downtown Disney for the day instead of using a park ticket. Is there anyplace decent where we can see the fireworks? I'm sure we won't be able to hear the music, but would like to see the pretties. Thanks!

You can join the masses of others who will be doing the same thing in the Esplanade, music and all. It's not the greatest view compared to inside the park, but good enough that you will have LOTS of company.

I finally watched the fireworks from the Esplanade area and was pretty amazed how many folks were out there. They were mostly sitting on the ground from about where the compass is and then back towards DCA. If you sit between DL and the compass, I suspect the monorail beam gets in the way. I opted to watch the show from under the monorail beam and thought it was a pretty good view. The music was somewhat hard to hear, but I could see the higher up fireworks without a problem (the effects on the castle and the fireworks from the castle were not visible).

The top of the parking structure is good for just watching if you dont care about the music and the rest of the show. Just take the tram and go up to the roof.

If you choose to view from the top level of M&F, be prepared for lots of car alarms to go off. If we watch from there, we stay in the car to muffle the alarm noise.
You can view from the Esplanade, from DtD (in front of La Brea Bakery or by House of Blues), and from the grassy area by the DtD valet parking lot (follow the path from ESPN Zone out of DtD -- you'll see people sitting on the grass waiting). If your timing is right, you can eat at the Jazz Kitchen (ask for a table on the balcony) or at Catal (again, ask for a table on the balcony) and watch the fireworks.
