Looks like the only fireworks during our stay are on 11/1, the day we will check in to GCH. We are debating getting an extra day on our tickets for Fantasmic and the fireworks or simply trying to view the fireworks from the GCH - are there spots to have a good view without being in the park? We won't arrive until late afternoon and so are not sure that we want to pay for the extra day ticket.
Thanks!

I recommend viewing the halloween screams show from main street, you wont be able to see the big inflatable jack or zero flying around the castle from the hotel, watch the video of it(I believe theres a thread with the link) and youll see what I mean, it makes the show 10 times better:thumbsup2

The fireworks show is SO amazing, but only up close!! We waited right up at the rope by the castle two nights that we were there. We walked up about an hour before the show each night and we were able to get good spots. It was totally worth the wait. It is all about being able to see the projections on the castle, Jack on top of the castle (to the left as you look at the castle) Zero and the music. Amazing.:thumbsup2

I don;t know how long you are staying or how many are in your family. But we have always found that the cost for adding an extra day for travel day was well worth the value. Even if you are only in the park for an hour or two, you should get your money's worth

Yeah, sorry but the recent Disneyland firework shows are intended to be viewed from the castle area and not from outside the park or anywhere else, otherwise then you're just watching plain ol' boring fireworks. The castle, effects, and the audio are what make the show. If you do decide to get an extra day be sure to show up to the castle area early in order to get a good location and make that extra day and money worth it. Whatever you do don't get stuck behind trees, if trees are blocking your view you should try to relocate.
