Fireworks schedule

Our trip is planned for the last week of March, Sunday thru Thursday. I somehow overlooked that fireworks are on weekends only and booked WOC dessert party for Sunday night.

Any chance fireworks will be during the week as well by end of March? Or do I need to reschedule WOC?

I overlooked this part too and we're only there monday- friday :( for spring break though so fingers crossed there will be additional showings

Fingers crossed. I hate that the schedule comes out so late.

Me too. I didn't realize that there was the potential for fireworks only Friday to Sunday. That means we might only have Sunday night as an option. Our last visit to Disneyland was during the same time and I know they had them during the week. I just have to hope we'll have more nights for them.

It's pretty routinely weekends only. The 60th celebration was unusual...

I'd go ahead and reschedule WOC since you can do that any night, personally... Why risk it?

So even during high crowd times, fireworks are weekends only? Used to WDW where there are fireworks most every night.

First, it's pretty much always "high crowd times" these days. Second, Disney doesn't tend to add extra fireworks (meaning, more than summer, limited spring and holiday) outside of the times they expect to be the busiest. The 60th was an exception that I wouldn't expect them to repeat any time soon, if ever. You can check for AP blocks, military salute blocks and the So Cal ticket blocks for when they anticipate it to be the busiest. Even if they do have fireworks on a weekday during your trip, it's better to attempt to see them early, in the event they're canceled due to weather, you'll have a second chance to see them.

Same thought for WOC, early in our plans in case of weather.

WOC is far less likely to be cancelled because of weather. The fireworks are far more dependent on wind conditions. Because DL is in the midst of a large urban area, if winds at higher altitudes reach a certain mph threshhold they will be cancelled because the fireworks fallout will carry too far. We usually plan to see fireworks on our first night.

That makes sense but WOC is a big deal since we're splurging for the dessert party. Fireworks are usually more spontaneous for us. If we're not too tired, getting up early the next day, in the mood for the crowd, etc. 2 of the last 3 times at WDW we didn't see MK fireworks. Last visit we managed to see HS & Epcot fireworks from our room & that was enough.

Aren't the fireworks usually Friday, Saturday and Sunday off season? You said you were there Friday, so maybe...

Anyway, don't feel too bad...I once planned a spring trip to include a weekend day so that we could see fireworks. It ended up being more crowded due to the weekend, and fireworks were cancelled due to wind. So no fireworks and extra crowds!!

We fly out Friday at 9pm :( So we will be in the parks in the morning, but we will probably be leaving around 5:30 for the airport. My WDW mind assumed it would be everyday! Is WOC everyday at least?

We are here now and made the same mistake. We knew we had to try for fireworks Fri/Sat as our Sunday was the WoC. We got lucky and fw showed on Friday night. Last night we had our World of Color dessert party and it rained after we got seated until the show started. Was a big bummer, but show was not cancelled. We were just soaked and all the food got wet. She said they rarely cancel WoC, but if they did we would get a refund.

Disneyland's Spring Break peak is the two weeks on either side of Easter (these are two of the busiest weeks all year) they'll probably do fireworks nightly from April 7-23, but Friday-Sunday the rest of the season until Memorial Day. Of course, strong wind can cancel fireworks on any night at DL, it happens pretty regularly.

WOC is every night, and very rarely cancelled, but there are down for a refurb for a short while this Spring, not sure of dates. WDW used to do the fireworks seasonally as well, I can't remember when they went year-round (15 years ago?)

My guess is that Disneyland will begin running their full Spring Break schedule starting on March 24 (running through Easter). The single-day prices switch from regular to peak on that day, so it seems like that's when they think the height of Spring Break season will begin.

I hope you're right. We planned weekdays to minimize crowds but I'm sure it will still be very busy. The park hours posted for March already have 8 am opening many days.

FWIW, seems a lot of public schools in Illinois have Spring Break the last week of March (for Easter our schools are closed Good Friday & Monady after). In speaking with just a few parents, I already know 2 other families going to DL the week we are, and 1 to WDW.

We are in Oregon and had spring break the last week of March last year and it was pretty busy. They were running their full schedule though if I remember correctly. We had a great time and would not hesitate to go again at that time of year. I hope they end up having fireworks for you!
