We will be at Disneyland in September from a Monday through to Friday, flying out home early on the Saturday morning.
From all the investigation I have done it looks as though, that we will have to choose between the Fireworks and Fantasmic!.

So what would you choose? :confused3

Fantazmic!!! It is my all time favorite Show!! Most of the time there is a 9:30 pm Fireworks and right after there is a Fantazmic Show!

I have the same problem, will be there in september monday through friday but we're going to choose the fireworks because we've never seen Remember. HOWEVER if we had seen it before I would choose fantasmic, and I think people say you can actually see the fireworks from the fantasmic area so you might get to see both.

I don't see how you can miss the fireworks (they are in the sky), from wherever you are in the park.

I have never seen Fantasmic. We tried once. Waited uncomfortably on river's edge for an hour. The thing started and broke after 5 minutes. We have never wanted to bother again. I figure we will do at in WDW the next time we are there and there is stadium seating and no haggling for position on the river.

We just got back and did the premium/dessert seating for the Fantasmic show, and it was great!!! Then we watched the fireworks right after from the same spot, and we could see everything, even Tinkerbelle flying. This was on a Friday night, for the 9:30 show.

You might not have a choice. In the past, I think Fantasmic was only run on Sat & Sun during September. Of course, things might be different this year.

Fantasmic is really neat, but we always choose the fireworks. I just adore the effects on the front of the castle---it's really the best show I've ever seen! :thumbsup2

We like Fantasmic!, but love, love, love the fireworks, and to be in front of the castle is just amazing....

Can you stay for the second showing of Fantasmic? Cause then you don't have to choose. It's a little tricky, but you can watch Fireworks from the left side of Main Street, then make your way over slowly (like swimming upstream) to Rivers of America and grab a spot waterside to watch the 10:30 showing of F!

But maybe you have little kids or just don't think you can make it that late. Alternatively, you can watch them from the Fantasmic area after the 9 p.m. show. It's a very good view there, and they pipe in the same music and narration to the Rivers of America so you are hearing the same thing as on Main Street. You do miss the projections on the castle and the Matterhorn, and some of the low-down stuff, but it's still a great show.

I would say Fantasmic. We decided to see Fantasmic first and I was glad we did. The fireworks got canceled both nights we were there. I would have been mad to miss Fantasmic to watch the fireworks and they get canceled. Also, we were able to make it back to Main Street after Fantasmic before the fireworks were suppose to start. I don't think is an easy thing to do on most nights.

Fantasmic wins hands down with our family. Although last time we were there my DH had to take our son to the restroom shortly before the start of the show. They got back 5-10 minutes before the start, but the crowd absolutly refused to move to let my husband back in. We had been sitting riverside for over an hour, so it was a huge disappointment that he missed the show. I was able to push my way through to get my son, but DH was just too big. I'm not sure I will ever get him to wait for the show again! He was so angry.

Thanks everyone for your responses :)
It's our first time at Disney (we're from Australia) so both will be new for us.

I don't want to bring a wet blanket to the picnic, but... I think Denton's post is correct.

Here's the entertainment calendar from Sept 2007:

In Sept 2007, Fantasmic was only shown on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Sept 2008 entertainment hours should be available some time in July:

Maybe the Fantasmic schedule will be different in Sept 2008, but right now the Magic 8 Ball says "Outlook not so good" and "Ask again later."

Hope that helps.
