Fireworks is Ticking Me Off

I dont think VMK sees the fireworks scoring as a problem. It's done on purpose. You see, 5 players make it to the end. So 4 people, not 1, have the chance to get 1,300 credits instead of 675. And ONE person gets the chance to get only 675 credits, but possibly be in the top score list. It's giving an option: if you are really rockin' at FW and can get a great score, you can either sandbag and get credits, or rock your best score and get the glory of walking out of the #1 flag spot in the castle, and maybe getting on the Hi score list! VMK also wants to give ppl as many ways to get credits as possible, especially for when they put out a bunch of new stuff at once that is really expensive, like, ahem, NOW. This way, up to FOUR people can get 1,300 credits in a fireworks game instead of just one. Only ONE person can be the "best", so it would stink if only ONE person got the most credits. How many of you out there have gotten first place in fireworks before? (raises hand...more than once). Now, those who raised your hand: do you think you would have, if nobody ever sandbagged? If the best credits were given to the winner, and everyone did their best, how often would "ok" players like me actually win? For me, NEVER. For Navimap, a LOT. (LOL). So what I am saying is, this is a smart way for vmk to reward fireworks players. In other games, like HM and pirates, more than one person wins, b/c it's a team effort. Fireworks is the only "every man for himself" game, so vmk rewards up to 4 people instead of one. It also makes it harder b/c if I sandbag, I have to stop somewhere near the end of the final finale b/c I ain't that good (I can't stop for 2 rounds like someone said, I think DemonLlama) so I'm watching my score AND trying to click. Like we have all said, that is not easy. Whew ok thought I made my point with my last soapbox speech, but I think that's it for me. We will see :rotfl2:

Sorry, but if first place got 1600 credits, how does that hurt the other four who didn't win?

And if first place gets 1300 credits and the other four get 675, how is that not still a great deal for a single game pay off?

Encouraging people to sit there and stop playing the game before it's over shouldn't have been on purpose. Whether it is or not, Yavn never will say.

That WOULD be a good deal, if that were the way it worked. But, it's not. And someone help me out: didn't it used to be 250,000 that you had to get (and not win) to get the fireworks pin and most credits? that is what I remember reading on DIS back when I had no chance of even getting 200K let alone 240 or 250. I was surprised the first time I got over 240K and won the pin. Did it used to be 250K and they changed it? that would make sense, b/c most people that get over 250K DEFINITELY win the game! It would be next to impossible to get that score and not win. Maybe that is why fireworks magic is more common and less rare than it used to be...back when I had to trade for it

Anyway, I think the best way to give credits for fireworks would be the most to first place, a little less to second place, less to third, and so on, but pay each of the 5 people that make it through the game. But then who would get the pin? The winner? If the person with the highest score got the fireworks pin and then nobody had to sandbag, I know I, for one, would never win the pin. So if that gets changed: I had better save the 3 one-star fireworks pins I have left!

those who know me know i usually always try to finish with the best score i can...but EVERY now and then i will sandbag for the credits lol! sometimes when i am playing friends i will do it because they assume i won't :)...its funny to see their reaction at the end, like "hey!!" lol...

but i never understood why first place gets less credits than second! so as long as vmk rewards second place with more credits, then i see nothing wrong with those who play to get those credits...

Hiya Kid!

Nice to see you on the boards. I'm one of those people who've played with you and thought "hey" when you stopped. ;)

It's always been 240,000 and, by the way Mia, you get a pin for every ten WINS as well as ten times over 240,000. They aren't limiting who gets the pin by the standings in the game.

The only time you have to be in second to get it is your first score over 240,000 without winning.

That's why some of us have now over 100 fireworks pins :rotfl:

Actually, the reason they used to be so much rare is that not many people had enough time to get that kind of a score. I was one of the best people at fireworks back then (I could even beat Navimap) but now people have had a long time to practice. I personally think they need to raise the score to 260,000 to get fireworks, but you wouldn't have to lose for it. I think that would be a lot better!
