If we wanted to see the fireworks after we eat dinner at Ohanas, what time would you suggest a reservation for dinner? :confused3
TIA

It depends on when you are going. By your countdown, if you will be at 'Ohanas on August 12 Wishes is at 11:00. The rest of the week Wishes is at 10:00. Both these times are a little late for dinner but I would suggest getting their at least 1 to 1.5 hours before Wishes starts. Ask for a window seat in the main dining room. This is a wonderful place to watch Wishes - they dim the lights and pipe in the music.

Another great option would be to eat a little earlier and plan on watching Wishes from the beach at the Poly. They also pipe in the music here but you need to be in certain sections of the beach to hear it - generally when the musis starts if you are not close enough to a speaker most people move around to get a good listening place. I like watching Wishes better from the Poly then the Contemporary or GF - From the Poly the fireworks go off right behind the castle - rather then to the side at the other hotels.

Thanks for the info! I didn't realize Wishes would be that late. I think we might have to just eat at Ohanas and then catch wishes when we are in the Magic Kingdom.

Keep in mind you can also watch them from the beach/lakefront by the POLY. We did this last week, we had dinner at Narcoosee's and from experience I didn't want to be crammed on the porch area there so we went over to the POLY beach about 9:30, found an empty lounge chair on the beach and got comfy.

It was nice because there weren't tons of people standing around. There was a nice breeze so it wasn't real hot and we watched the fireworks. The only thing is there is no music piped in (but we didn't need that). We enjoyed them very much this way. ;)

Thanks Linda! I had the same exact question. Our ADR's are for 8:15 on a 10:00 Wishes night, and I was worrying that might be a little too early because 1. I don't want our 3 yo to get too bored and force us to leave early and 2. I don't want to be greedy and hog the table. I figured an 8:15 would almost guarantee us a window seat, since we'd be early enough to wait if necessary. My dh enjoys the fireworks, but really loves to see them with the music, so this should work out perfectly.

From what I've read, there should be enough to keep the 3 yo entertained at Ohana, so as long as it's not too piggish to sit there for 1.5 hours+, I think I'll keep our time. One month from tomorrow and we're there! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Our rez is for 9:20pm on a 10pm wishes night, is that good? Can we walk outside the restaurant at 10pm for a few minutes and then return to our table, or what? Help please for a newbie to Disney! :surfweb:

In Dec I believe the night we went Wishes began at 9 and we had a 7:20 adr. We were seated in about 25 minutes because I asked for a window seat. We were just starting on desert when the fireworks began. It was really great. The whole place was so quiet during the whole time. As soon as it was over, the fun began again. We enjoyed it!

So just remember that there may be a small wait to actually be seated as well.

I don't think you can leave and then come back to finish eating. You would need to watch from your table or your server might think you have left and start clearing off the table in addition to grumbling because he figures you didn't pay either.

Just checked the WDW and their calander lists Wishes beginning at 6pm. Forgive me for sounding dumb, but I would make a Ohana's rez between 4:14 - 4:45? Seems a bit early to me, thought I'd ask the experts!

There isn't really a balcony or a place to walk outside like at CA Grill. The windows are on the second floor. I am not an expert on the Poly, but you would definitely have to leave the restaurant and possibly even go downstairs to get outside where you could see them. So I don't think this is an option.

If you get a seat by a window, you can see them from inside. But not all window tables have a great view (some are off to the side). You may want to arrive early if you want to be sure you get one as many will probably be filled with "lingerers". JJ

Do you want to watch it from Ohanas? If so, you can probably do 5:15. I wouldn't go too much later (maybe 5:30?) b/c they tend to run late in seating, especially if you have a request. You don't need to be done by wishes if you are watching from your table, just if you want to watch from the beach.

I don't think it is until 5:00 pm. You might want to check this. If you have 5:00 reservations and get there a few minutes before you should be able to get a window table. As far as window tables not all having a great view, this is true. Last April we requested a window table and it was window off to the side and we would not have had a good view of Wishes. Since it was Easter week Wishes was at 10:00. We finished dinner, walked around the hotel, did some pin trading and purchasing and then headed to the beach. We found a great spot near a speaker so we were able to hear Wishes.

Already most of the times after 7pm were gone!! Can you believe that?? :confused3 I checked WDWINFO times and Wed 12-13 is the only night that week that does not have a MVMCP and so Wishes is at 8pm that night. So that is the only thing I can think of that would make that night more popular for dinner.
I know Ohana is a happenin place....We love it!!

We ate there in May and I love the new way they do the shrimp and I love the dessert better than the pineapple.

So I was able to grab the 7:05 time and she said that was the last table at that time.... :goodvibes

DH did not get to go in May and I want him to try the new menu! We have to go to Ohana every trip.....

Thank you everyone for the great tips! I made our ADR on a different day when Wishes starts at 9, can't believe I got a 7:20 rez.

Thanks again!
