Fireworks, Don't bother???

Tell me more about seeing them from It's a Small World please. I didn't know they projected things onto the exterior. I assume you can clearly hear the music? Are the fireworks especially loud?

Last time we were in Tomorrowland for one set of fireworks and they were rather loud back there and there were large sections where you couldn't hear the music at all. Not an ideal location but we had already seen them twice (once from Hub and once from Fantasmic location) so we were concentrating on rides.

I've seen the fireworks at the IASW area more often than I've seen them from the castle area. The projections (and it's all about the projections over there) are so amazing. You see pretty much everything you hear (no problems with the music). Yes, the fireworks are very loud there.

The trick to seeing the fireworks by IASW is to be on the same side as IASW. And get as close down to IASW, near where they will rope that area off as possible. You will see a wrought iron fenced area with two levels. We like to sit in there, there is a churros and popcorn stand right near there as well. Once they start, if you don't find your view suitable, it is pretty easy to move to a better spot since its not nearly as crowded back there. If you know when to turn back towards the Matterhorn and look, you will see Tinkerbelle very briefly as she begins her flight. Some of the fireworks, the big Mickey head in particular look a bit different since you are seeing them from the side and not straight in the middle if you are in the hub. The projections are non stop and incredible. I would never see them anywhere else but dh likes to see them at least once or twice from the hub. And the music is nice and hearable, there are speakers right there.

Is tinkerbell really obvious from the Hub? IASW is sounding like a better option but dd would really love to see Tink but I am 5'1" and she is only 5. I think we would probably be better then, we are certainly not officianados on fireworks and both get excited to see a sparkler! How long do you stake out IASW?

You can generally get over to IASW only a few minutes before showtime. But, yes, Tink is very obvious from the castle--she flies from the Matterhorn across the castle, back and forth.

Tink is very easy to see from the hub and anywhere on Main Street. She is much harder to see at ISAW. I am only 4'11'' and have seen tink every time. She flies back and forth so, you have many chances of seeing her from Main Street. From IASW, you can usually just see her decent from the Matterhorn.

I think we will risk IASW, I don't really fancy staking out a seat for a couple of hours, there is no guarantee dd will be awake enough to be bothered, thanks for the tips.

What I saw were grownups yelling at each other and using foul language with all the kids around. (Great example for our children)I can understand both sides, but there are some folks that need to have their attitudes corrected. One of the reasons I would rather pay(if it were possible) for priority seating like they do with Fantasmic. Many people think they are the only ones there when they buy their tickets and should be an exception to the situation. I have empathy for the CM's having to deal with all the jerks and special people(I am not talking about people with medical problems or disabilities.) I am 6'4" and 245 # and I am sure I am difficult to see around.

for the IASW information. I'm still not sure i understand where to sit and where to look. Isn't small world behind the castle, sort of off the the right? So I'm guessing you can't face IASW, but then how do you see the projections? And the fireworks are where? Beside you? Not behind IASW?

I guess I need to get out my DL map.

The fireworks go off from behind toontown (behind IASW) so yes, you can see both the projections and the fireworks by facing IASW. You won't see some of the fireworks that go off of the castle or any of the fireworks that go off around the hub area. It is a still a great view though.

We viewed the fireworks last Saturday (2/25). The CMs announced several times in the 30-45mins prior that the area was to be standing room only. Not only that, once standing the people were supposed to compress forward, to allow more people to fill in behind.

If you think of the hub as a clock, we were stationed at 9 o'clock, on the inside of the street. We parked my mother-in-law's scooter in between a trash can and a bench, and made camp there (there's also a food cart next to the bench as well). When the CMs started roping things off, they put a rope right behind us (by the trash can), so we were effectively put into a corner. This was advantageous as our only "competitors for viewing area" were some ducks in the flower beds to our right. There were a few people sharing the sidewalk there with us, but they came and went and things didn't get crowded at all. Most people seemed to gravitate to the street for some reason.

Now, this wasn't the best place for viewing, as the fireworks were launched to the left of the castle, and the lower fireworks were sometimes hidden behind a big tree. I'd rate the spot as "quite good" tho. If you want an unobstructed view, with the fireworks bursting around the castle (Kodak moment material), you want to be on the right hand side of the hub, perhaps in the Astro Orbiter area and forward.
