Have never been to DL before and am trying to figure out where to go for best viewing for the fireworks tonight and how early to show up. Help?!?!

imo, you want to be able to easily see the left side of the castle... which is my left if I'm standing facing the castle. There is a 'globe' that you want to be able to see.... it's a crush up front, they start at 9:30pm and for a spot right up against the fence you would probably need at least 45minutes if not more and be prepared to be jam packed in.

I second being in front of the castle. Normally I don't feel it is as important but the castle and globe really are a big focal point during the show!

So if I have claustrophobia and really cannot handle being smooshed by people I should just accept that I won't get the full affect? Maybe I'll have my family see it and I'll stand somewhere else. I really hate for them to miss out because of me.

There were lots of people sitting where I was which made it less claustrophobic imo. Lots of people standing around me is more annoying because I'm short.

tbh, I think that it's hard to get a 'perfect spot' for so many of the shows without a lot of time and a proven tactical plan so I've tried to adopt the even a bad spot is still a spot in disney philosophy.

That's a great attitude! I'll try to remember that when I am there next week. Being vertically challenged ;) I often see the back of someone's head. As long as I see something though it's better than nothing.
