Our first visit to Florida from the uk. Where is the best place to see the fireworks at Epcot . Would it be worth booking a table at San Angel Inn to see them.

Howdy charlesmcwall !

I like San Angels Inn very much...but the seating there is all inside...so you cannot see Illuminations (the fireworks) from seating at San Angels. Perhaps you're thinking of a counter service eatery just outside by San Angels called the Cantina....from there you could see Illuminations..but PS's are not available for counter service places.

Honestly...you can see illuminations quite well from anywhere around the World Showcase Lagoon. Most people have their favorite spots like the bridge between France & the U.K. , or near Italy...but these spots fill up the fastest too.

Mrs. G and I usually try for a sit down PS for about 7 or 7:30pm...then walk around to find a spot to watch the show...that's always worked for us.

Hope this helps!
Have a Magical Visit! :)

Our favorite viewing spot for Illuminations is near the Stave church in Norway. This spot has a great view of the fire works and globe, a convenient beverage cart, a wonderful bakery (Kring la Bakeri) try the School bread or Strawberry cream cake (our favorites), plus easy exit after the performance and restrooms.

Here is an excerpt from my soon-to-be-released book "The Luxury Guide to Walt Disney World":

Best Places From Which to View Illuminations

Staking out a good spot for viewing Illuminations seems to be an obsession with some, meaning the non-obsessed will have to be content to watch the show from behind someone else’s head. If a prime spot is important to you, find a place at least 30 minutes prior to show time in slow season and up to an hour in busier times. If you’d like to snag a table at one of the seated areas below you’ll certainly need to think ahead. Here are my suggestions for the best views:
*An outdoor lagoon-facing table at the Rose and Crown Pub (make priority seating one hour prior to show time and request a lagoon-side table).
*Cantina de San Angel in Mexico (find a lagoonside table or the fireworks will be partially obstructed by the table umbrellas)
*Deck outside the Matsu No Ma Lounge in Japan (not the best view but a decent, quiet one)
*From an Illuminations Cruise boat
*Bridge between United Kingdom and France (great view, but one of the most popular spots)
*Promenade in front of Canada
*Between Mexico and Norway
*In front of Italy by the gondola dock (this area is sometimes reserved for private parties)
*Between Germany and China

There are quite a few outdoor tables adjacent to Rose & Crown- no PS required. We staked out a table about 1 hr prior to the start of Illuminations and my kids went to pick up dinner for us from around the "world". Comfortable and a great view. We've also had a "lagoon-side table" for dinner at R&C and it was absolutely incredible-we felt as if we were right in the middle of the show.

Guess what? A CM this week gave us a great tip for watching Illuminations. As you walk toward the World Showcase from Future World, go to the Showcase Plaza. That's where there are two stores with a little courtyard type area. This is actually the only place we have watched Illuminations from. But the secret is, go up to where they have a rope up, by the front at the lagoon. Sometime before the show starts ,they will drop the rope and people are allowed to sit in that area. (no strollers, no standing allowed past the rope) We were able to watch the show, directly across from America, front and center, with only a railing between us and the fireworks. What an incredible show!
