Hi all

We will be staying at my sister's place for the second half of August, who lives about 45 mins from Disney (but works about 20 mins away). She will be dropping us off at the parks on her way to work and picking us up on her way back. We have two children, the youngest will be 4, the eldest 7.

One evening we would like to watch the MK fireworks (sis is happy to pick up afterwards) but I'm trying to work out what is the best plan to avoid the girls being super grumpy-tired from such a long day.

One of the days we are hoping to Ohana breakfast and then go over to Blizzard Beach for a few hours. Do we then go somewhere calmer (where?) and head back into MK for later rides and the fireworks?

Or is it better to stay in one of the main parks for a full day?

Thanks in advance

I don’t know about blizzard beach. While I am sure it’s lots of fun, I feel it might drain the kids more so than the parks might. You will love Ohana breakfast!! Is this your only MK day? MK has a TON to do. If it’s your only day I would stay in the park but just take it slow, taking lots of breaks and maybe spend your hottest part of the afternoon doing things like COP, Philharmagic, county bears, or the hall of presidents. Air conditioned and may get a short nap.

If you’re looking for somewhere quiet to hang out for a few hours, I love the community halls. Especially the one at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Plus the kids can animal watch from the public viewing spots if they love animals. Seeing a giraffe hanging out thrills even my withered, old heart.

Some of the resorts also have arcades. They aren’t usually too busy from what I’ve seen and could be fun for a few hours.

A quick boat ride to Ft Wilderness is a nice playground the kids might enjoy while the grown ups enjoy a drink from Crocketts Tavern. In the evening they have Chip and Dales campfire sing along which is nice too. I know it will be August and hot so playground might not be what your looking for, but the kids might enjoy it and the boat ride is refreshing

I know you didn't ask this, but make sure to rent a double stroller on your long day. It'll give your kids a place to rest.
