Hiya,

I have read bits about there being different firework cruises at MK and Epcot. I wondered if anyone could tell me a bit more about them, and how good they are.
ANy and all info would be good.

Thanks

My family and I did the MK cruise in October. It was wonderful. The boat came and picked us up at the GF Marina. Right on time. The captain introduced herself and helped us on board. We set off for a little cruise around the 7 seas lagoon and visited all of the resorts. At each resort she gave us a few tidbits that you do not usually hear. For example - while we were looking at the WL she told us to look at the overall shape of the resort - it looked like a big bear with certain lights being the eyes, etc. That little tour takes about 15 mins and is very relaxing. You wind up in front of the MK about 10 mins before the fireworks begin.

We had ordered a Mickey cake to be on board and it was at this time that the captain passed out linen napkins and china with our slice of the mickey cake on them. We saw many other boats out there as well. Some people had Champagne on their boat - we got pretty close to each other as each boat just has to kinda hover in the area as they do not drop anchor.

Right after the beautiful and magical fireworks - which was a real treat for us seeing them from a different perspective alltogether, she went to take us back to our hotel the long way so that we could run into the Electrical Light Parade that they do on the seven seas lagoon for all of the hotels. That was really neat also - first time seeing it from the water and it really topped off our cruise in a big way.

It was a little chilly out on the water and I was glad I brought my jacket. While we were there it was quite warm during the day - like in the 80's - but it was still pretty chilly out on the water.

I have never done the EPCOT one - but hopefully will one year!

Thanks for the info, its a great help, have u any idea how much it cost for the cruise? Also how hard was it booking it, do you need to call as they go on sale?

Thanks again

It was $120 for the cruise and they only run it when there are fireworks so it is not a last minute thing that you would want to do. I do not know how far out my DH called to reserve but they did take our credit card info even though they never charged it so we paid for it after our cruise.

I think there are cancellation policies as well - just not sure because he did the booking and is still asleep.....I just did all of the enjoying!

From what I've learned in my short time reading here:
The MK cruises are called fireworks cruises; the Epcot cruises are called specialty cruises.

Price is per boat; $120 is for a pontoon and there are other types of boats that cost more. You can add dining options.

The boats run even if there are not fireworks so you could have the bad luck of it raining hard enough to kill the fireworks but not hard enough to cancel the boat cruise.

Reservations 90 days in advance. There is a link that explains the process: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=62587.

Must cancel 48Hrs in advance or they charge your CC

just another tip here: these cruises have become very popular and the process of reserving them have become much the same as for CRT in the MK. you MUST call first thing in the morning exactly 90 days prior to the date in which you want to take the cruise to have a realistic chance of getting a cruise. Also, the boats can hold 10-12 people. You can get other famalies to get along and help out with the cost.
