Fire heading towards our house.. picture

There is a fire just over the ridge from our house thats been burning all day and getting closer. I do not believe it will make it here, but the smoke is terrible and air is thick and orange....

Stay safe! We've been breathing ashes and trying to keep them out of our eyes all day. I'm sure it's even worse where you are. Isn't it spooky to see the sky so yellow and orange in the middle of the day?

I hope that you are not in the area that's on the news right now, and if you are, I'll pray for you.

Even here in the South Bay we're getting the ashes, and skies have been brown since yesterday.

Unfortunately, there was another fire that broke out this morning (they believe by arson), and the San Bernardino mountain resorts have been evacuated, and they're showing dozens of homes on fire in the foothills. It's really tragic.

I was watching a story about this situation on the news earlier tonight. Last year when we flew to San Diego, we flew around a few wildfires. They look really weird from the air. It's awful that such a lovely area has to deal with this so often.

Be careful Melora and all of you other DISers from southern California.

Fire has reached the freeway near our house (the 23) and it is now closed. Again... still at least 5 miles from here, but it is near some power supply lines for our area and we keep getting minor fluctuations in our power... I have a power back up on my computer but DHs computer keeps getting the boot because his power backup died about a week ago. Npw he wishes he would have gone to get a new one last week. He better soon before the 2 year old learns some fun and spicey new words....

My hubby's out fighting one of those blazes right now. I just wanted to add to those who may have asthma or allergies - take precautions before going outside - Use those inhalers and take them everywhere with you. The smoke and ash is all over us where we live - it's awful. Can't open the windows. Took the kids to the movies and I swear all we could smell in that theater was smoke on everyone's clothing. The other night from our house we could see the red flames on the top of the ridge.
