Finished the Minnie 5k and now attempting the Princess 1/2 - Am I nuts!?!

Laurie, To be honest, yes, the C25K plan is only 9 weeks, so i will be done about mid- December, since i am on vacation 2 of those weeks of the plan (one in Nov, and one in Dec. - i am sure i will work out a bit, but i doubt i will be following the plan while i am in WDW and on the DCL!) Know what i mean?
But, i know May is a little ways away, but i honestly feel that a 15k is just a lil' out of my body's plan right now. I still want to lose about 30 lbs. and tone up.. So, after the C25k plan, i will probably continue jogging / walking, and also concentrate on the weight loss and toning.. I just don't want to bite off more than i can chew. I have had knee problems ever since 2nd grade, when i had multiple operations on my knees.. So, i would rather sign up for a 5k and do great, then sign up for a 15k and have something happen and not make it. I would be heartbroken. I think honestly, if i can jog the 5k i will be completely happy. :)
 
Hey there! Just checking in to see how things are going... Looks like your trip is coming together nicely! Not sure if this would work for you guys, but my inlaws are staying at ASMu in a Family Suite for their Feb trip. They hold more people than a regular Value room, plus they have 2 bathrooms!!! Hi Stacie - I thought about the suites, but we are going to do 1 room over at Port Orleans Riverside - in the Bayou section, they are the only MOD that sleeps 5, and it will be cheaper than the suite at AS. And everyone will get a "real" bed.. I just can't see my MIL sleeping on a pull out sofa.. KWIM? This way, me and my MIL will share a bed, and my sis and mom can share a bed, and my dd will have the trundle bed. :) My MIL is on the phone right now booking!!!! Guess i really have to go book that race now! LOL

Well, last night,i took my lazy yellow lab on another 2 mi. walk.. and she survived. Better than last time.. LOL ;)

Today, later probably, i am going to do my W2D3. I was up til almost 1am, booking shore excurions for our Dec. Disney Cruise.. so i am very tired.. Today is my day off though. And i gotta go to Cait's class later this afternoon to help out for 45min.. (oh, yea! -- saying sarcasticly..LOL)

I will check back later.. gonna go catch up on some of your journals! :)

Well, i did it! I finished W2D3 of the C25K plan!:cool1: I will admit though, it wasn't my BEST effort.. b/w being overtired from being up til 1am last night, and then not working out til 9pm (I am normally an a.m. workout girl) and having T.O.M., :rolleyes1 , and then my knee was a lil sore today, and making "cracking" sounds as i moved all day.. LOL I just knew i wasn't going to be going in tonight with 110%. :sad2: But, i slowed my walking bursts down, to about 3.1, and kept my jogging burst at my normal 4.7-4.8. I just didn't feel the "want" to walk fast..

Gonna go take some Advil and hit the sack soon, after i play a few games on Webkinz.. LOL (my other dirty lil' secret) :lmao:
 
Hey Stacy. You're doing REALLY great with the c25k program. :thumbsup2 Even with your very busy schedule and not feeling your best, you went for it and got the miles in. :woohoo:

I agree with Kim - huge shocker! - not every run is going to be 110%, but it's great when you can get it done even when the stars don't align. For what little it is worth, I NEVER feel the want to walk fast on the treadmill. :rotfl: Keep up the great work!

I think you did an awesome job yesterday. It would have been so easy to just skip thec25k. You certainly had enough obstacles. Instead, you did it an it is over. I hope today is a bit low-key so you can recover.

Today will be sort of low key, i feel kinda stiff today.. I have a new book from my MIL - about Yoga poses, for "curvy" women.. ;) I am going to read thru it at work today, and if it's slow, try a few poses (and hope no customers come in as i am doing so!):lmao: But, in the back of the book, are routines for 30,60,and 90 min. sessions.. so i am going to have a looksee.

I would also love to go to B&N tonight, to mabye look at some arm workouts (this is a spot of total yuck for me!),

I am also on the line starting today about watching what i eat. I have gotten a cheap journal ($1) and am going to start recording each days food, I am going to be going off the WW points system, as it is what i know and am use to.. i have all my books. This is also how i lost my first 15lbs.
So for breakfast today, i had :
1/2 Multigrain English Muffin with 1tsp. Strawberry preserves
Coffee
8oz cup of V-8 Fruit Fusion Light - Peach Mango

I went shopping yesterday and got some good food, and lots of soup -- b/c i don't deal well when the temps start dropping!! :mad:

I have just over 4 weeks til my WDW trip, and i would like to lose 10 more lb.s by then. I know, that will require hard work.. but i want it more than anything!! And by the time i go on my cruise in December, i want to be 15 lbs lighter than i am now..
So, 10lbs before disney, and then 5 more by the cruise! Got it!? :thumbsup2

I will check back in later today! Oh, and i guess i gotta register for the 5k in may - me and my mom are going to register as a team i think - even though she will be walking and i will be jogging.
But, i have to register, b/c i KNOW how much my sis would kill me if she had to fly alone! Right barb?! :lmao: :scared1:
 
correct sis....i would NOT be happy if i had to fly alone! actually , u know me, and if that were the case, i would just not end up going period, i would make up my own 15k in massachusetts :) !!!! (for the others reading this....i absolutely hate to fly and have to be heavily medicated to do so) keep up the good work w/ the exercise plan and the watching what u eat. u make me proud! :)

Now, on to todays update:
Did W3D1 - C25K today!! :yay: It really wasn't as tough as i thought it was going to be at all!! I know now, that i can bust out this week 3, with no problems!! :woohoo: Oh- and the best part was, i up'ed my jogging speed to 5.0 for the full 3 minutes both times i had to do it!! (from my previous 4.7-4.8), still took the walking slower, at about 3.4.. i came to the conclusion that i just don't enjoy the walking as much.. LOL

I think i am going to treat myself to a new running top today - there is a surf shop next to my store, and she is having a sale thru the whole store, and she also sells yoga wear, and like sport tanks.. so i have my eye on this cute lil' white number.. :lmao: So, it will be like 20.00. I like it b/c it has the wider straps.. the tanks i am wearning now, have those spaghetti straps, which seem to keep slipping down on me all of a sudden -- is my top getting smaller?? :confused3 Anyway, it is a PITA when i am trying to workout.. so i need a new one. I guess it will be a treat for finishing up the first 2 weeks of my plan and starting week 3. Ya, that's it. ;) :rotfl:

My knee is still "cracking" when i walk up stairs.. and feels a lil' tight (stiff like) - so i am icing it now as i type-- any knee experts here?? Told you i have junky knees.. :rolleyes:
 
Congrats!!! You did awesome! That's great about the pants! I'm wearing a pair today that was a bit tight last year!!! Now, if I only get them to fall off...;) I need a reason to go shopping. "Sorry honey, all my clothes are too big..." One day!

Wk 3/ Day1. Sounds awesome!!! You go girl!!! :woohoo: You are really kicking it! Your speed is amazing! I'm just trying to get through it and here you are 5.0! That's an all out sprint for me! I do most of mine outside, but when I'm on my TM, it's 3.0 for walking, 4.0 for running... You are doing great!!! Keep it up!

I have issues with my knees too. I was working out this morning and heard them cracking and creaking. :( I usually just try to walk it off or do some extra leg stretches, but that doesn't always work. Hope your knee is feeling better soon!

Thanks! I don't know how to describe it - it feels fine when i am walking around, but if i go to bend down, let's just say i can't do it too fast -- and my knee seems to be very stiff - almost like a swollen feeling.. There is a definate sensation there when i bend.. it feels weird.
I am trying to remember the range of motion exercises i use to do from PT, (Barb -- got any PT's in your hospital?) I think it just needs to be strengthened.. it's not really PAIN, per say, but it is weird.. mabye more of a soreness when i bend.. Who knows. But, it didn't feel out of sorts when i was on the TM today.. so i guess that's good. LOL
 
Hi Stacy...just catching up on your joiurnal! Love all of us chicks on here in training...how cool is that! Run like a girl ladies ;). Sounds like you are coming along super on C25K! Great job! Just take care of those knees! A lot of time when you start to build up the mileage the knees act up...do you have good running shoes? Runner's Knee is very common and usually causes discomfort and a full feeling/stiffness around the knee cap. Icing is a definite and keep a close eye on it...it's common but you don't want it to get worse. Visit the doc if it gets worse :hug:

Here are a few things you can do to help manage knee pain and prevent it in the future. Again though...if pain persists please don't let it go ;). First and foremost...try to strengthen the muscles that surround the knee. 1) Quads 2) Hamstrings 3) calves 4) Glutes. If you can do some sort of either strength training, yoga or pilates that will help. Straight leg lifts are a really good way to strengthen legs. Avoid squats and lunges however. Are you cross training in your program? If so....cycling, elliptical and ski machine all work those muscles, are low impact and excellent way to build endurance :). In addition, you need to make sure you stretch all leg muscles and particularly the glutes!

With all that aside....you are doing a great job with your training! You seem so motivated...and having your sister by your side through this is awesome! :goodvibes

Ohhh....btw....I used to live in Stonington...and worked in West Kingston and Greenwich RI. One of my closest friends in the world lives in Narragansett :). Just had to shout out to RI! ;)
