Finished Autograph books....whew...with pics

Well...I've finally finished my autograph books. Thanks so much Penny and Natalie for sharing your wonderful talents. Natalie...I even used some of your 2010 disigns. Both books have about 105 pages. For whatever reason, I could only print one page per sheet on one of the books so that book is top bound. The other book, I could print two pages per sheet so that book is side bound. After printing all the cards, I took them to Office Depot to have them cut them. Four cuts on each book, add the plastic cover on front and back and add the spiral binding. All total for both books...that is 8 cuts, 4 sheets of plastic cover and 2 spiral bindings...$12.00. I think that is a good price.

I planned on doing the same thing. those are cute. i really want to do the top mounting. Did you go to her photo bucket and down load the pics or did you find them on the boards? I found them in her photo bucket but it is taking forever to save each one.

Looks great but how do you know who you will see? I mean I know the obvious characters but we found that on different trips we saw a few different characters. That is the only issue I would have making one of these autograph books. Do you leave some blank pages at the end?

Yes...I got them out of the photobucket. I just did about 20 a day and saved them in a Word file. I ended up with 4 seperate Word files.Then, I just printed.

As far as who I am going to see? I have all the ones from the character meals we are going to plus many others. I do not have any of the "rare" or "hard to find" characters in my books. I also have extra blank pages in the back in case I run into someone I don't have a card for. I know I'll have many pages with out signatures...but I and my girls are ok with that. I hear the characters really like the pages that have their picture on it so I'm hoping for a little extra character interaction with these books.

How special. I think the pages also help for kids who can't read yet - for when they look at their books they know who signed the pages. Very cute.

May I ask what kind of paper you printed them on? Is it just regular printer paper? Or would that bleed through? I've not done this before, and up until seeing yours didn't know how people made them. Very clever.

What exactly do you mean by 8 cuts? Did you print the images on cardstock?
Are your books 4x6 or 5x7? I made mine 5x7. I got my front page laminated, did you, or is it a piece of plastic that goes on first(like a front page) then the book starts? They look great. I haven't put mine together yet. I think that price is good if they cut all your pages for you. I got my cardstock at Michael's craft store. It came in a pack of 100 pieces in cremes and whites on sale for about $4. It is already 5x7 size. It took awhile but my sister got the pictures to print out centered on the 5x7 pages so that we don't have to cut them. I hope mine come out as great as yours look! I went a little overboard and I am making two albums for Disney(since there are so many characters, I didn't want such a thick book), one for Universal/Islands of Adventure(we are spending a couple days here) and one for the star wars weekend. So, my sister and I are making 4 books for each of the 5 kids. It started out as a cheap way to make books at home as to not have to pay for them there. And then I saw these great pages on here and had to have them. To have the book made it probably cost the same as buying one there. But then you add the ink!! I don't care, we are going to have so much fun with these books!!

I have the same question about the page, what do you used? I'm thinking of using cardstock.

I have all the pages saved from Penny and Natalie. Thank you for your tanlents and for sharing.
I have not started yet because I don't know what page to use.

I'd also like to know what type of paper you used. I would think cardstock would look the best but it would make for a very thick book.

I used regular ole' 110# cardstock, 8 1/2 x 11 sheets. I bought a ream at Wal Mart for a few bucks. One of my books, the side bound, is 4 x 6 and the other book, the top bound, is 4.5 x 6.5. The books each have different pages from different disigners. The top bound book: when I printed the pages, I could only get one page per sheet of paper. I think it had to do with the margins the disigner set up. The side bound book: I could get two pages on each sheet of paper. Both books: since they were printed on full size paper, I had to get them cut down to size. I just showed the folks at Office Depot where to make the cuts. I could have mad the top bound a little smaller if I'd wanted to...but I didn't measure them, I just guesstimated. Each book has a platic cover. They are not laminated. The cover is another page...just like a sheet of paper...only plastic. I hope this helps.

Thanks for all the info on the book making process. It really helped! Thanks for the pictures of the books also. It helps to have a visual when attempting these books. I have already laminated some of my book covers and can't decide if I like it laminated or the way you did it. I am going to be making my books next week. I still have to decide which cards my sons want in their books. There is too many great ones to choose from.

I'm starting to print my pages for my DS's book. I'm using matte photo paper in 4X6 size, so I won't have to cut them. I do have two questions, though.

1. Are the pages in your side bound book double sided?
2. Where did you get the plastic cover? Do they sell them at Office Depot?

No...my pages are not double sided. And yes...I got the plastic covers at Office Depot.

I've decided to buy stock in ink companies! I am ending up making a different book for each of the three character meals and one for generic characters. That is 4 books times three kids....I figure if I start printing now, I might be finished by the time we leave in September!

Thanks for the pictures... I am a visual learner and needed that bit of clarification.I guess I see a trip to Office Depot in my future as well!

And now I am wanting to make my own instead of using my autograph book from 1996....

But with only 15 days left til we leave, and having to stay at my sister's house in two weeks (airport in her city) I don't know if I could do it in time......

I did both books...binding and all, in 3 days. The reason it took so long is because I was printing at work and work kept interfering with my Disney obsession.

May I ask who made your covers for you? and where you found the autograph pages. I'm overwhelmed by all the creative talent there is on here.
