I have finally finished making all my ADRs for our trip in June. :woohoo: We (me, DH, DS16, DS11, DD 9) went to Disney 4 years ago but knew nothing about ADRs so we ate counter food the entire time! (didn't know about the DIS then!!) This year I hope I am ahead of the game. These are the restaurants we have planned for our 2 week trip:

1. Boma for dinner
2. Crystal Palace for lunch
3. Whispering Canyon for lunch
4. Sci-Fi (I think only for dessert after hearing so many bad reviews??)
5. Flying Fish for Father's Day. I am going to surprise my husband with this one! I hope I can keep it a secret until June! ;)

We plan to eat counter service for the rest of our meals and breakfast in our condo. I know I should trust my own decisions, but since we are going to spend a small fortune eating at these place, I just want to make sure I am making the right choices. We just wanted some fun, interesting places to dine (I really just do not want to cook on my vacation) :thumbsup2

Thanks,

Helen

Boma and Flying Fish are excellent.

Sci Fi has always treated us well (food and service)

Whispering Canyon, nothing special, you may enjoy it but we find it just ok.

Crystal Palace, never been for lunch, but love the breakfast.

Looks like some good choices to me

We love Bomas - great buffet

We really enjoy Whispering Canyons also - didn't realize they did lunch, have only been there for dinner - they have the family style Skillet meal (BBQ pull pork, ribs, chicken, sausage, corn on cob, cole slaw, bread, beans) along with the very entertaining waitstaff.

Agree with the majority - do NOT care for Sci-Fi at all and personelly would not waste my money there.

Tried Crystal Palace for the first time for buffet dinner in August and the boys loved this also (have 20, 18 & 14 yr old- they love to eat - so buffets are a big hit with my family and the least expensive 'sit-down" meal). It has the winnie the pooh charactors at dinner that come to all the tables.

Have never eaten at the Flying Fish but i do know its a little expensive.

Other retaurants that we have really enjoyed are

Liberty Tree Tavern in MK, family style servings of mash potatoes, veggies, ham, turkey, beef, gravy, bread, Mac & Ch and apple crisp for desert.

Cape May Clam Bake at the Beach Club is a really good buffet with one section dedicated to seafood; muscles, clams, shrimp and usually grilled salmon.

We like to go for at least ten days and some of the ways we try to cut cost is to order pizza in, pickup cold cuts at grocery and make our own grinders one nite and Stop at Earl of Sandwich in DTD to get some sandwiches to go and eat at the resort. We also enjoy "eating around the world". We stop at some of the different counter services from the countrys and split a plate or two amoung us. Its also a good way to try the different beverages from around the world.

Have a great time

Crystal Palace -we did not enjoy food, or general messiness of the place last time we were there - except the dessert. I would do Chef Mickey latest seating for breakfast or dinner instead.

Boma - we walked past there and it was so busy and noisy - it made Chef Mickey's sound like the haunted mansion.

Sci-Fi -food is fine there - and atmosphere great - where else can you eat in a car in the dark in front of a large movie screen.

Flying Fish - excellent food - nice place - comparable to the California
Grill - you'll love it.

The Crystal Palace is wonderful... Sci-Fi is just an over priced Denny's. At least that's what my family thinks. Not that Dennys is bad, but if your gonna pay that much! You could try Primetime... better food, deserts are scrumptious, and a great laugh. We tried Boma on our last trip (I have kids about the same age as yours) They weren't really that impressed, so they stuck to the Kids buffet. However they loved OHana's in the Poly.

No matter what anyone says though, you really can't have a bad time if you go into it with an open mind. Your in Disney for cryin out loud... the ambiance is going to make up for it! Your gonna have a great time!!

Thanks everyone who replied! Now that I have my food all taken care of, I can start obsessing about something else...rides, shows, what to pack....

Thanks again,
Helen
