My DD is so picky! She won't eat tuna or fish, but she likes shrimp and crabs! She won't eat dippy eggs because the yoke is runny and she won't eat a casserole because everything is together. AND when she eats PIZZA, she separates EVERYTHING and eats it all separately! She also will mostly only eat Chicken! And no soup because it is in a bowl, BUT if I put soup on a PLATE, she will eat it, AFTER she separates everything in separate piles and eats them... SEPARATELY! :confused3

At least it sounds like she eats. DS doesn't even like to do that! He eats minimal quantities, at best, and he wants everything cold. Frozen waffles? 'No cook them!' Canned soup? 'No cook it!' It's ridiculous. Finally one day I gave him a frozen waffle so he could see that he could not eat it like that. It hasn't stopped him from asking, though

I have a DD that won't even eat potatoes! Not a chip, not a fry, nothing! That's just starters. She's not a good eater at all. My mom cursed me (I was a picky eater as a kid too)!

gr8tpanther,

It sounds as though you and I have the same DD!! :goodvibes

My DS is such a picky eater I can't stand it. The Dr. said he will grow out of it, but when, he will be 6.

He just ate a cheeseburger the other day at a birthday party DH was shocked. I ask him if he wants one at home and he said NO-

I can't figure him out, one day he will like something, the next day he doesn't.

your dd kinda sounds like me.. I have always been that way.. so just realize you will have to deal with it the rest of your life.. :goodvibes It used to drive my parents crazy.. I would pick thru my dads stew and pull out the meat and trim every single last piece of fat off the meat.. Than Id take the meat and mix it back in my stew.. :rotfl2:

I view this as one of those "It is what it is" issues. I was (still am) super picky. And I freely admit, that DH and I did this to ourselves by not encouraging DS to eat more real people food and less kids stuff when he was younger. He's 8 now, just starting to branch out beyond pizza, mac n cheese, grilled cheese and chicken fingers.

His doctor and PNP are not concerned, he is right where he needs to be growth-wise, takes a prescription multi vitamin, and if he does not want to eat what's for dinner, he is old enough to make himself a peanut butter sandwich.

To me, it's just not a battle that needs to be fought.

at least your kids eat it if you prepare it right. My kids won't eat what your kids eat (shrimp, crabs) plus they never ate an egg, or any kind of soup and they don't like pizza. One won't even eat chicken! I am at such a loss. I'd kill for them to eat stuff - even if I had to seperate it.

OMG!!! My DD3 is the epitome of finicky! She will eat scrambled eggs, Kraft Mac n cheese, and plain bread, "no Butter"...oh, and PB&J, only sometimes. No meat, other than Arby's roast beef sandwiches, and NO vegetables! I am truly worried about our upcoming DW trip, because this is it. Oh, and she inspects everything to make sure I am not trying to be slick and trick her by putting something EXTRA into her food.

I'm with you Debster. I have 3 kids and sometimes end up cooking 4 meals. One for each of them and one for me. None of the food would make Martha proud but we surrvive. We all like something different and that is just fine. I had a step dad that forced food on me and I won't do that to my kids.
One of my kids likes more kinds of foods then I do I just dont know how to make some of the stuff she likes so she only gets it when we go out to eat or my husbands home. I am not much of a cook but everyone is growing.

My DS is picky but will eat quite a bit.......if I feed him. He's 4. He just doesn't want to take the time to feed himself. If it were up to him he'd have milk and a couple bites of food for each meal. I have cut his milk intake way down because I know he tries to fill up on that, but it hasn't improved his appetite much. If I give him junk food...he can feed himself and finish the whole thing! Amazing. He also likes his food cold, if it's the slightest bit warm he says its hot and won't eat it. I am waiting for the day his appetite will kick in. I make him eat whatever the whole family is eating and he does but its a fight every night to get him to finish his food. And I give him small servings.
