Our day has finally come to book our next trip, today! We were hoping to stay at the Beach Club Villas (first time). We're bringing my brother, sister in law, niece and nephew (will be turning 7 and 9 during the trip), however when logging in, our check in day is the only day showing "not available", but the rest of the stay is available. I spoke to a CM and she explained the process and how it works. My wife was a little nervous, so she booked a different resort that had availability for the entire stay. I'll try to cancel that booking, waitlist the 13th and book the remaining days. I'll give it about a month or so and if nothing happens, I'll cancel that and book a resort that has full availability.

Would love some pixie dust, luck, well wishes, whatever it takes for that one day to match so we can get our full booking!

For what its worth, we've stayed at several other resorts over the years and try to stay at a different one so we can experience as many as possible. We've stayed at Animal Kingdom before and liked it, so staying there isn't a problem, just hoping for a "new to us" resort.

Your wife was wise to book somewhere w/ availability, don’t be surprised if you log in tomorrow & discover that your second day is now not available as folks walk their stays. If your first day shows as available grab it & each day try to pick up the days the walkers have dropped. BCV is a very small resort & thus very hard to get, personally I’d just go w/ BWV pool/water view which is much easier to get at 7 months & has many of the location advantages that the BCVs have.

I'll try to cancel that booking,
You mean to cancel the entire booking your wife made yesterday? If you do that, you risk not having anything, if your waitlists don't come through, especially if you're doing them piecemeal a day at a time.

Standard advice here is to book your home resort at 11 months, so that you'll be assured of a place to stay during your desired dates. Then try to move elsewhere at 7 months.

Cancel the Animal Kingdom reservation she made today, and replace it with 6 (of the 7) nights at the Beach Club that is available. Waitlist would be one night (first night) at the Beach Club. Because of points, we can't book both. There were other resorts with full availability but we'd rather a different resort (Vero Beach, Bay Lake, Saratoga Springs all had availability for the week we're going).

When I spoke with a CM, it was my understanding it would be "more likely" to get a wait list of 1 night vs a week. If we reserved the 6 nights currently available we'd wait list just one night. We could potentially cancel the 6 nights and book something for the full week after we felt we've waited long enough (30, 45, 60 days?).

I quickly spoke to wife about it in between meetings and work loads, and I'm pretty sure she'll override any ideas or thoughts I had with this and just leave the reservation at AK in place, and be done with it. Because I'm no fool, I won't push my luck and do whatever it is she wants :worship:

In the grand scheme of things, what resort doesn't really matter. As long as we're all going and have a bed to sleep in, it'll be another great trip. We might just have to try Beach Club another time.

Oh good, I misunderstood your plan. You’re on the right track - book 6 nights, WL one. That plan has a good probability of success. Good luck!
