so when you give your fingerprints and you get your piccy taken what happens next which information data base are they looking at or putting your details through.......anymore news on delays at immigration...... many thanks as always

The **official** info from the embassey etc is that they are checking you against a list of known terrorists or known terrorist alias's and known criminals in the USA. however i expect they are checking you against a few other criminal lists from "friendly information sharing nations".

There was an article in this sundays mail on sunday. Its said that the Home office confirmed that they do not share their criminal records with the US.

Wheezie

It is simply an ID check. Each time a particular passport is used, the system will (triggered by the machine readable data) retrieve the photograph and fingerprint data. This will be compared with the 'new' data each time the passport is used. Once biometric passports are in place, the data will also be compared with the data embedded in the passport. Any immigration or criminal records are linked to a passport number

Also, the system will allow the US to track people using multiple passports (and there are some legal reasons for having more than one). Finally, your details will be held across a passport renewal ('cos the new passport will have a new number and cannot currently be linked to the expired one).

The US is also trialling photo/fingerprint checks when you leave the country so the system will be able to tell that you have no stayed longer than you are authorised to do.

Regards

Rob
