Fingerprint scan doesn't work for me

Ever since Disney implemented the fingerprint/magic band scan it's been nothing but trouble for me. My fingertips are scarred, and each year I have trouble 99% of the time with it reading my print. A cast member will take my photo with their Ipad and assure me it'll work for the rest of the trip, but when I go to another park I go through the process yet again.

Is there another option for me? I feel bad for people behind me in line.

In addition to the option of using your own photo ID, another technique is that a CM at the gate can take your photo (on an iPad) and they can attach that photo to your Ticket account.
Then, whenever you use your ticket, another CM with an iPad can check your photo for admittance.

They do that, but I get my picture retaken each time I enter a park (they can't seem to find the old picture on my account). One time they did find my photo it had been taken with my sunglasses on but since it was dark when I returned and I didn't have them on they seemed to question if it was really me. But I guess I can carry my ID with me. Will the cast member manning the tapstyle admit me with my ID or will they need to call over a supervisor?

Teller, my Mom has the very same issue almost every time she tries to enter the park. We have annual passes and its a hassle every time. She scans her finger and it doesn't work. They have her do it again, still no go. They ask her if she is using the same finger and to try a different one. After having her try 2-3 times, they raise their arm to call over a Supervisor. Supervisor asks if she's certain she is using the same finger. She says yes. Then supervisor has her reset her fingerprint. At this point they also take her picture or look for her picture in the system. This whole process takes 3-4 minutes which is forever if you are in line behind her. She now tell the first cast member to call a supervisor because her finger prints can't be read. She also tells them there is a photo of her on file. It doesn't matter. They ignore her and go through all the steps every time. It is so frustrating for her!!!!

I always enter the park in front of her and meet her in the first gift shop (there is one in every park). At least, that keeps my blood pressure down.

that's what they did for me

They also retook pics of DD every time we entered the parks last year (her fingers never work - we were told they're too small, but idk).

I had this problem constantly at Universal Orlando. Finally I stopped by Guest Services and they adhered a sticker to my annual pass that says Photo I.D. Required. Now I don't have to bother with the annoying finger-scan procedure that I already know won't work anyway.

Oh your poor mom

we had problems this year (as most) however this year they took a picture and we had no problems after that... they did not make try and retry to scan and the CM was right there to take the picture it maybe added 1 minute if not less....they seem to be far more efficient this year with this problem....

My son is Autistic. He just doesn't understand the finger scan. They took his picture. It doesn't matter. I tell them "You have his picture on file" They just smile at me and say "let's try another finger". Its really frustrating that they don't listen when I tell them to get the CM with the iPad

Yes, it is very frustrating. I wish I could just tell them upfront that the fingerprint scan just doesn't work with me.

It was a problem for me at US also, but we were only there two days so I just dealt with it. I had to show my drivers license, which I wasn't carrying, but eventually they let me in. I carried it from then on.

This is what has happened to me, for almost every single time. I have no idea why. :confused3 Only a couple of times has my finger scanned with no problems.

This is exactly what happens to my Mom. She tells the first CM that the finger scan doesn't work and that her photo is on file. They act like they don't even hear her and tell her to try the finger scan 2-3 times. They then call over the supervisor with the iPad who spends another minute or so trying to get it to work. I bet she has 60 finger prints and 40 photos on record.

I think it's the fact that they don't listen to her that makes her the most upset. I tell her that I suspect they are trained to have the guest try the scan three times before they are permitted to signal a supervisor.

I know when I first used the scanner I was pressing my finger down hard. It wouldn't take the next time. When I reset my finger scan I used less force and I haven't had issues since.

Always a good idea to bring your ID! For many reasons, but the most immediate for me is booze. I'm 46 and I was carded at Three Broomsticks the other week. Gotta have that ID!

Are you a doctor? Nurse? Woodworker? Do you work with cardboard or lots of paper? Professions like that can end up with very faint fingerprints (sanitizers wear them off, and the manual rubbing of wood and paper can wear them off too).

If I had a problem like that I'd just tell them I'm a whatever and have no fingerprints up front, with my ID out, sunglasses off, ready for that ipad.

No, none of those professions, but years ago I was a General Manager of a quick service restaurant and did use a lot of hand sanitizer. I guess I did work with a lot of cardboard when I left there and managed a shoe store. Always touching the shoe boxes and unpacking cases of shoes and other product.

I was thinking it might have something to do with the fact that I have pretty bad neuropathy and my hands are usually always like ice cubes. Idk. My fingers don't usually give me a problem opening my iPhone with using that as security though, so not sure.

After a while, I did try and tell them it probably wasn't going to work, but they just made me try anyway, so there was just no point in saying anything.

Also, I do not ever remember anyone asking me to pull out my photo ID. Definitely had a supervisor come over with that iPad most of the time, and had multiple photos taken.
