6/30---SATURDAY
O.K. We flew ATA out of Chicago and volunteered to be bumped as our flight was "too heavy" (kinda scary, although we were sure it was OUR luggage that was creating the problem,LOL)we thought we had those 4 round trip tix in our hot little hand when they put us back on the plane and said all was o.k.
Now our flight was delayed over an hour and we hit crummy weather so the pilot couldn't make up the time we'd lost, sooo...we get to MCO and the DOLLAR car counter and the line is huge! I had registered for fastlane, and when we got there they had a different rate than we were quoted, plus we had added 2 days to the beginning of our trip and Dollar said we would have to physically return the car after day 2 and re-rent it at the discounted rate for the duration of our trip. DH was furious as I had specifically asked about this and had name of clerk who gave me info,,,ressie #'s etc. Spoke to management who wouldn't budge, we're tired ,kids are getting restless(but they stayed behaved)
long story short DH walked down to Avis, explained they beat Dollars rate by $10 and in 10 minutes we were out the door. Stayed off-site at a Hampton Inn for the 1st three nights of our trip as we were doing SW for 2 days and possibly IOA. HI was o.k. free bkfst was nice...couldn't complain for 59 a nite. DAY 2 SUNDAY 7/1---- SW was a blast...we love dolphins and spent a ton of time feeding and petting them, and also the stingray. DD was 1 " too short for Kraken which she really wanted to ride) so none of us rode as to spare her feelings. We did all ride JTA.....is it only me or has anyone else ofund out on the ride that there's more to it than the first drop? DS left nail marks in my arm and leg and his little heart was pounding out of his chest! The picture that they snap is a hoot....captured perfectly the intense fear the poor boy had. of course we shelled out the $ and bought it.you DO get soaked on it...but not as bad as by Shamu!
Food vendors are not as plentiful as at WDW and the lines were long for that, but everything else was pretty maneagable there. No rain on this day, but we were wet all the time from getting splashed by various things, dolphins, shamu,stingray,it felt good in the heat.Stayed for the laser show and the Orlano Philhamonic was playing....they were beautiful and then we were beat and headed back to the hotel...DH tried a short-cut...need I say more? A BIT later we returned to our hotel room and crashed...except for me who got to pull double-duty on this trip and pack up for the next day AND get up early to get brfst for everyone.They owe me big time!
