For some reason my body is changing and my lipstick that I have worn for years no longer looks good on me. Its not just the lipstick. My hair has gone from white to sliver/black and my coloring is different. I wear bare minerals make-up, so the make-up color is still ok.

The color I now wear is kind of a light neutral brick/red color. What is a popular color now for a woman in her mid 50's, I don't want to look too young, but I also don't want to look 95!

I started 2 new meds a few months ago and I have follow-up with my Doctor and will discuss the changes then, but I do want to try a new lipstick!

Go to a cosmetics and ask for help picking out a color. This is not something you should chose based on what's popular, but on what looks good on you.

I second the PP. It is always fun to check out lipsticks at a cosmetics counter. I like MAC, they always seem to have a good lipstick selection.

Since the color you obviously relied on before isn't working for you, maybe you can find a variation of that color. How has that color changed on you? What is your complexion color?

Try Ulta if you have one close. They can help you find a shade and it is returnable if you don't like it later.

clinque honey black. I have yet to meet a woman it hasn't looked good on.
I found out I was a cool, thanks so much for posting the chart. I know many years ago, doing your colors was popular, but I had forgotten what mine was!

Thanks for this suggestion, I read the reviews and ordered a sample size of this shade.

Without getting into the nitty gritty, going out to a make-up counter just isn't going to happen right now. I use to love going to Ulta and looking around. Since I am now in a wheelchair full-time, I feel like I have become the invisible woman. It seems like people are either really nice and helpful or just look right through you. My last few times shopping without knowing exactly what I wanted didn't go well and I am not really wanting to do it again anytime soon. I have become the queen of on-line shopping and was hoping for suggestions that I could just order. The sample of black honey will be here in tuesday, so I hope I like it!

They have it in different formulas - gloss, almost lipstick, lipstick. I have them all. I'm kind of in love with it

Yep that Clinique color is beautiful. Hope you find something you love just as much as your previous favorite. Here are some other suggestions - the Younique glosses are amazing. my favorites are Luscious, Lovesick, and Luxe. I change them up a bit with lip liners too. They are great - not sticky at all - very luxurious. Some lip stains just came out as well and I can't recommend those enough. image.jpg

If you are on a budget...CVS. anything you try at home and dislike you can return. SO go nuy a few tht you think you will like, and keep the one you do!

Don't forget to mix your lipsticks! I have found that I can turn something I'm not so crazy about by throwing on another shade with it.

I switched from lipstick to tinted glosses in my 30s and am so glad I did. They work so much better on my lips than lipstick ever did. Lip stain with a clear gloss is a second favorite. My favorite glosses come from (of all places) Bath and Body Works. Very budget friendly.

I use Red Apple Lipstick. They have sample pods you can find and offer tons of colour swatches and videos to help you pick a color. I find that Audrey, New York, and Mauve Me are really universally flattering. I also second mixing, I have a few that turned out not ok, but when I mix I get the most amazing flattering colors. They seem pricey but they often have sales and a coupon code each month. You can also turn in old lipsticks for a discount! Plus many of their formulas are really moisturizing so its something I love using. I have met the owners at an expo too and they are just as nice in person as they are online. http://www.redapplelipstick.com/

I haven't tried this site yet, but it was recommended to me by someone because I loved the color she was wearing. And at $5 they're affordable. ColourPop. They have some crazy and some non crazy colors. Also, I've found I can google ABC makeup review or swatch and usually some beauty blogger has posted pics that give me a better idea of what the color is than the tube.

Thank-you so much for the honey black suggestion. I wore it last night for the first time and it looked great and seemed to wear well! I think I found a keeper, thanks again for all the great suggestions!
