Finding friends without kids to go with us

My husband really wants to run the TOT race in October but we didn't have money in the budget this year to fit in another Disney trip. I am hoping 2015 will be an option but we both really want some other friends to go with us to make the trip a little different than our traditional trip. We have a few single friends (also runners like my husband) who have never been to Disney before and they always seem pretty inquisitive about our trips. All of our married friends have kids and frankly they don't do adults only trips. I am trying to figure out a way to spark some interest in our single friends so they might consider going with us next year. We would share a 2bedroom villa or get separate rooms at another resort, whatever they were most comfortable with. My question for you adults with no kids out there is, do you have any advice on a way I can get them interested?

After discussing it with your friends, you determine which would be the ones mostly likely to want to go, then for Christmas this year, give them a gift of one or two nights in the room, and you would have your traveling companions for 2015.

The only way I've been able to (so far) get non-Disney fan friends into the parks is a runDisney weekend or friend's wedding. I've had luck getting them to go back on other runDisney weekends, but not necessarily going back for a casual park vacation.

Some things to note:
-runDisney events sell out FAST. Like, within hours of being released to the general public fast. So if you do go this route, start talking now so that when the race opens up for registration in a few months you guys don't miss out.
-runDisney events are expensive. They're worth it, but an up front cost of $150 scares some people away.
-make it worth it for them-- most non-Disney fans I know only think of it as the four parks and kiddie-themed rides, which is why they don't go. You know your friends and what would interest them. Mine are interested in fine dining, spa days, and drinking around the world. That makes it a somewhat easy sell for me, since it's all stuff I like as well.

Exactly why I want to start thinking ahead. I figure $150 to register in the grand scheme of a Disney vacation is minimal. Disney isn't the trip for someone trying to pinch pennies.

I agree that it's a drop in the bucket, but it can be a very hard sell if your friends are used to running $50 races at the same distance.

If your local friends aren't interested, how about looking for new friends here on the DIS?

I'm actually going there this October, but maybe you can find others going in 2015.

I was going to suggest the same thing. Great idea.
