Finding Disney Characters in the different parks?

Is there something or a certain place that we can see the Disney characters? If I remember correctly, they no longer allow meet and greets where you can go up and get picture or a selfie with a character. What and where are the opportunities to see them besides in a parade or at a character restaurant? Does each park have a list of where you can see them?
