Taking my two girls (ages 11 and 14) to Universal this summer for first time. Is there anywhere to find discount pricing on on-site hotels or tickets? Plan to visit in summer but dates are flexible and hope to spend three days/two nights. Any and all help very much appreciated! Thanks

Check over on the Universal Resorts board. There are oodles of tips on getting cheap hotel rates!!!

Buy an entertainment book and when you call get rates for all 3 onsite hotels for different dates if you are flexible. The rates vary on the season. I got the RPR for $119/night by going at the end of August when it was 150-170 earlier or booked entirely.

I called today and got an entertainment rate of $168 for June 17 and $176 for June 18 and 19. How does this sounds to you experienced folks?
Thanks!

People seem to have gotten the best rates during the second half of August.

Do I need to buy the Orlando Entertainment book or can it be from my hometown city to get the hotel discounts??

debm,

You can buy your hometown edition. All you need for the ENT discount is the card that comes in the book.

Hope this helps :)

here is what i am doing for a discount price on my stay in Orlando
We are staying 3 nites 4 days at RPR and got a rate of 146.00 instead of the 209.00 price. We got this rate by buying my husband an annual pass for 109.00.Plus we signed up online at the website for RPR and will be getting a free bottle of wine when we arrive for our stay.Plus when you stay onsite you get FOTL privileges!Good luck with your findings and check these boards all the time. These guys have taught me lots and saved me tons!!

What is the website you used for RPH? Thanks!

Thank you so much. I already signed up to be a Lowes First member but am wanting to check the codes and discounts before I call. How do you know what the Entertainment rate is? Will they tell you if you call or do you need a special coupon number first? I HAD a book but I think I tossed it because I thought it had expired--but didn't. :(

We will have annual passes. Are those usually better than the entertainment rate? THanks so much!! for any more help. Debi

If you are going to call tell them you have all of the discounts and which one is best. If the entertainment rate is available it is usually marginally better than the APH rate. You don't need to give any code numbers or anthing. Call the Loews number. They are very helpful. Let us know what they say.

hello

i booked RPH today with a APH rate of $153 for 6/24 to 6/30- for a standard- they had no entertainment rates avail for this date and HRH was $174

if you go on the loews web site and use the APH code the rates are the same as when you call- only downside is that because this is a promotional rate they told me i wouldn't be eligible for any of the amenities- but will be credited for the time- i am still going to ask at the hotel about my loews amenities (it never hurts to ask:sunny:

OK--well, I just did it and made the reservations. That way, at least I have a room! Of course my kids were playing and yelling the entire time, as kids do, and I had trouble hearing and the guy on the phone did not seem the least bit understanding and didn't seem to be enjoying his job. Oh well. Here's the deal:

The APH rate was actually about $20-30 better than the Entertainment rate. I got a standard room with 2 queens at the RPH in October for $146 plus tax. I thought that sounded pretty reasonable. (We payed a bit more when we stayed at HRH last fall but we also had a larger room.) Does this sound good with everyone? I'm glad I have people to help and cheer me on. Hubby just says, "oh you made reservations....." in this very monotone voice.

Thanks again! Debi

That sounds pretty good. Keep trying the website for cheaper rates as your date gets closer. If you can find a better rate, just give them a call and they will change it for you.

that is the rate i was quoted as well and it sounded good to me!
We are excited and cant wait to go.Have fun on your trip and dont forget to come back and fill us all in so we can see what we have to look forward to.
