I've been reading about $49 fares through SW but I don't know how to find them. Is there a way to find the cheap fares without putting in exact dates? :confused3

We don't have our trip planned right now, but if I found cheap fares I could check the dates and plan around that.

It doesn't have to be SW. Thanks

You will have to use dates. Unfortunately, rates are based by day of travel, time of travel & connections. So lower fares might be available one day & the same exact flt. for the next day could be different fare. Airlines have their own way of pricing which makes no sense to anyone.

Some of the airlines have a flexible option in their website and will check for cheaper fares a day or two on either side of your date. SW lets you scroll down and check another day.

Orbitz.com will let you search a date range. Click on "Flexible Dates" (underneath where you put in airport and date info), then choose which option you want to search by. Usually I'll use them to find what the options are, then go to the actual airlines site to book it. They have most of airlines, but none of the budget airlines (SW, jet blue).

Southwest sort of has a flexible date option. Act like you are making a reservation. Once you get to the 1st page where you choose your flights, there will be a link at the top of the page for "Southwest shortcut to low fares". It will give you a color coded calendar of what days their fare types are available.
