Finding an online coach

I'd really like to be mentored online by someone who is experienced with running and who has coached running beginners. Can anyone help me find such a person? I have no idea where to look?

I'd like to connect with someone who can look at me as a unique individual with unique challenges, and help me create a running plan to allow me to reach my goals in weight loss and running. I'd also like someone who can provide feedback and support, and help change things up when they need to be.

Thanks!

Here.

I used to do a lot of online coaching from beginners to age group winners in sports ranging from running, cycling to triathletes.

Finding what you are describing is a function of how much you want to spend.
The lowest level of online coaching is simply picking up a canned plan from Galloway, Higdon or others and putting it on your calendar. No feedback, not customized and not glamorous, but they will get you into a race with cushion to spare.

Then getting into a true coaching program, the cheaper rates are a real coach fitting you into a canned program. Most of these programs have some one on one coaching via phone calls every month to six weeks. They offer a tried and true program, but feed back opportunities are limited to your one-on-one calls plus what the coach will tolerate.

There are varying levels of support up to the highest level where you can step up to a coach who you talk with weekly or daily as the coach delivers the weekly plan, but you will pay for the access.

Note most online programs will want to lock you into some period through an initial enrollment such as a 2-6 month period. This is normal and covers a lot of the set up costs that the coach has in getting to know you. It also keeps you as the client from grabbing a plan and running in the first month.

Have you tried locally. Most running stores have a referral service for local coaches. Honestly, this is better than trying to do things on-line. The cost will be higher than the lower internet levels - but the service far superior. You will gain so much more when your coach can see an issue, rather than have you describe the issue. In addition to running stores, larger gyms tend to have running clubs. Look at triathlon clubs and running clubs in your area. Both of these have folks who are more than capable of mentoring a new runner.

PM me and we can discuss what I think of differing programs and how effective they are. I would even consider mentoring from afar, but more than likely will not take on a full time client. Though you never know. Look on the competition site of WISH if you want to see some of my work.

Good luck - in recap, I would steer you to a local coach as a preferred approach over an online coach.

Thanks Coach Charles-

I did PM you on the weekend. If you have a moment to reply, that would be fantastic.
