Finding a new job...so depressing.

I have been working with several recruiters and looking for a new job for about 4 months now. I want a change and to get closer to home. I have been on a handful of interviews and ... nothing...

I never seem to be the "perfect fit" for any of the companies. It is so depressing because for some of them, I know I can do the job and very well, yet someone always is a better fit.

It really make you start to question yourself and your worth. I had another interview today (cross your fingers!!) the feedback I got was that "they liked you but will make their decision for the next round by weds." UH! that may sound fine but to me it sounds like another kiss of death...

Its just so hard mentally! :headache:

Thanks all, for letting me vent.

I just climbed out of that boat a few weeks ago. My job hunt started at the beginning of last August and ended at the end of last month. It was frustrating (I wound up in tears and tearing up rejection letters a few times)- I went on quite a few interviews and they all raved about how much they liked me and would be in contact shortly. I either never heard from them again or received a very nice "we're not hiring you" letter. I am really happy now, b/c I'm loving my new job- I don't think I would have been this happy anywhere else I interviewed at.

It's really frustrating to go through, but a door will open for you. :)

Just hang in there and try not to let it get to you. Its a tough road to walk but in the end everything will work out for the better.
I've walked this road numerous times and I have the funny feeling that I'll be walking it again in the near future, as the company I am working for has been bought by another company.
Keep smiling and whistle a happy tune.
Good luck with your interview!!

Yes, I'm going through the same thing. I've been sending out resume after resume and can't even seem to get called for an interview. It's not an issue of not being qualified either. I don't know why I'm not getting calls. So I understand. Hang in there. I try to look at it as the job wasn't meant for me and that the right one will come along when it's meant to. I know it's hard to stay positive. Look on the bright side at least you're getting interviews. I haven't landed one yet.

Thanks everyone. I am trying to stay positive.

I do try and think that way. It is just hard sometimes. Best of luck to you with getting some interviews.

DH is in the same boat. He has been looking for more than a year. He has a job but wants a change (in the same field). He went a long time w/o even an interview and he is very qualified. He has had quite a few interviews in the past 4 months but no offers. After every interview he thinks it went well then nothing.

He had one last week and thought he did very well. They even called his references (the first company to do so) but still hasn't heard anything.

I keep telling him that every resume leads him closer to an interview and every interview leads him closer to an offer.

I'm also on the market right now; I just finished my degree and am sending out applications for university jobs that would start in Sept. It's a really stressful process, and it's tempting to take rejections personal, but I've been really trying hard to remind myself that they are looking for a mix of variables and I'm just not the puzzle piece that fits. But it takes it toll...it's hard to look toward the future when you're in limbo with your career.

Anyway, here's wishing all of us success!!! :)
