Can anybody recommend a good hotel close to the Parks?
The cheapest rate I can get for Sept of 2007 was $179 (military discount).

So if you have stayed at a hotel close to US and IOA and would recommend it, let me know!!!!

It will be me, DH, and 3 kids (age 10,5, and2). I checked the Nick Hotel and it was the same price as The Royal Pacific.
TIA, April

That's actually a good rate. Staying onsite is a splurge trip, something you save up for. There are many hotels across the street you can look into. You can even walk from them, although you will be crossing 10 lanes of traffic with 3 kids. Here's the hotels across the street.

The Amerisuites or the Best Western can save you a bunch of money, and each has free breakfast. But staying onsite is worth it if you can save up the extra money and think of it as a splurge.

I don't mind splurging. But the others in our group (my dad, sister, bil, and neice) are quite so willing to pay.
I really wanted the Hard Rock Hotel but they don't want to pay.

I have stayed at that Best Western and it is decent, good for the money I think only about $60 a night last time I checked, you could always stay at the Universal onsite hotels and let dad and the neice stay at the BW. That way you guys get express passes with your room key. Its hard to force myself to stay anywhere other than the onsite hotels at universal, its so great being right there and the view. Once you go to the Royal Pac you'll never go back!

You can garden view HRH in Sept (06) for $179/night - I did quick check of Sept 15-19 and that was lowest rate.

RPR for same dates is $149/night.

With either hotel everyone gets FOTL.

They "may" have military rate - its worth looking into.

EDIT - Sorry if I was wrong- did you get rate of $179 per night or entire stay?

$179 per night. That was using our military discount.
Thanks for all the help!!
