Finding a good Pin Display Case?

I'm looking to by a shadow box type frame for DSs B-day. I've found a few online that look good, but I'm not sure of the quality. DS has many jumbo pins and heavy puns and I'm not sure if the foam/velvet backings in these frames would really hold his pins.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd really like it to be a hardwood frame with a glass front...and good quality...and able to hold his pins without them falling out.

You may want to check with a frame shop. My dad had all his Navy stuff done into a shadow box, inc his medals and other heavy stuff.

Like the earlier post said. You can purchase shadowboxes at Michaels or other craft stores. You can always get some kind of favorite Disney fabric to cover a cork board to put inside it.

Very minimum investment in time and money. We use them to keep "little hands" off the collectibles.

I think I'll probably try Michael's. I'm just worried that they won't support a heavier pin, and that he pins will fall out. Have you found that the pins really stay in a cork background?

No problem at all. Alot of people have begun using cork boards during pin trading. You should have no trouble.

they do on my thicker bulletin boards. We have a special tool at work for popping signs off shelves, and I grabbed one to pull the pins without bending my nails.

Big fan of craft foam! It will hold heavier pins, but you have to play mix and match on the thicknesses and stick them together. I usually buy the sheets that are about the size of a standard piece of paper and about 3/8" thick. Combine that with a piece of the craft foam that is thin with adhesive already on the back and you have just about the perfect depth of foam to keep the vast majority of pins stuck in with none or very little of the pin back coming through the back side. You can stick pins into it and turn the board upside down and the pin stays put. I love the stuff.

Since you may need to cover a larger area, consider taking a thin felt and covering over the craft foam pieces. I hope this helps. It's how I do my shadow boxes.

That sounds even better. I bet it is easier to cut than cork? It also has a self adhesive? That really sounds great. I am going to give it a try.
