I have read of lots of people staying at a universal hotel for 1 night so they could get FOTL passes for 2 days so I have been checking prices for the last couple of months and I ended up booking last night after finding 1 night at Universal's Loews Royal Pacific Resort for just under £100 which seemed quite a bit cheaper than the other quotes I have had.

That's really good, i'm still waiting for next years prices to come up so I can book.

We did this in September but stayed for 4 nights as the longer you stay the cheaper it gets but in the end we didn't really need the fotl as it was so quiet, we still saved time but we did it just it because we could.

We plan on staying for 10 nights next year but definitely expect to need the passes if Harry Potter is open and Rip, Ride Rockit :thumbsup2

fotl is worth its weight in gold , you ll love it!
we did it at HRH and loved it!
i suggest you do it for the last few nights of your stay - kids will expect the same at wdw otherwise;)

Anyone considering this another option is booking with Hotels.com, part of Expedia. Use discount code HC3Trav10 for 10% off,

Room price (1 room x 1 night) £93.07
Discount applied (terms & conditions | Please remove my discount code) -£9.31
Subtotal £83.76
Taxes & fees £11.40
Total £95.16

A slight saving and no need to wait for cashback.

For the same night I saw a bargain while looking, Peabody £44 inclusive. Using code D446B on great4hotels.com

So let me get this correct. If I pay £100 for a night for my family in this Universal's Loews Royal Pacific Resort I get 2 days (FOTL) Front of the line passes for Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure?

So all 4 of us get a 2-day FOTL pass for paying £100? Sounds too good to be true to me. :D

Absolutely correct - 2 days FOTL for each room guest for the 2 days around your night's stay. Don't forget that FOTL gives unlimited access to each ride whereas the Express Pass is only valid once for each participating ride.

Great, so how do you get two days FOTL passes if you only stop one night? Is it a case of going one day stopping the night then returning the next day before you check out? Just asking as I believe they use the room key as the pass. Thanks.

To get the two days' FOTL privileges, you simply check in to your resort as early as you like on the morning of your stay. If a room is ready, you'll be given access straight away, otherwise you'll be asked to call back later. Either way, everyone booked into the room will be issued with a key card and off you go! The following day, you'll need to check out and vacate the room in accordance with normal procedures (I think it's currently 11am at Universal resorts), but your key cards will remain valid for FOTL access for the remainder of the day.

£100 really is a great deal for the hotel alone, let alone the added benefit of FOTL. Our first two stays at RPR were at the rate of $139 per night, but last November we had to pay $233 per night.

Btw, for anyone interested 2010 rates are now online!!

I just checked and for my 2 weeks it's $4100 for RPR or $3250 for HRH :scared1:

Before yoyu book with anybody you should check netflights.co.uk

Thanks from a tip from wayneg I got 1 week (middle of Aug) at RPR for £300 that works out at £42.85 per night - we are only staying there 5 nights but its still worth it.

Absolute bargin.

Wow that's an absolute bargain! We're holding off on booking at the moment anyway as we still haven't completely decided where to stay (decisions, decisions!) but if we could get a rate like that we'd be ecstatic! :worship:

I think that was a one off, they doubled the discount. Some managed to get this deal as well as the Business class flights for around £400-465pp I posted. A bargain trip for some this year:thumbsup2

Well, you learn something new every day. :)

I was thinking of going to Uni this time around as it's been 3/4 years since we last visited and the FTOL passes would definately sway me towards going.

The prices for next March aren't as good but for one day I think it's worth it.

You never know, tWWoHP might even be open...

Ok i am so sorry if this is a really dim question and it probably is but..

These FOTL passes that you get for staying in a Universal hotel do you still have to buy tickets to enter the park? or do you get free access because you are staying in one of their hotels?

No, you still need to buy park tickets. Just saw your ticker by the way- your holiday is so close, I bet you're excited! :goodvibes
