Finally stayed at the vero beach resort. My sister and I did a quick overnight for my birthday Oct 28-29.
Arrived at the resort around 3;30 pm. When checking in, they said their computers were down, no real big deal, but we couldn't add a cc to or room key if we wanted, and they gave us just one room key card, not two but when their computers came up, they would give us another, no biggie. We booked a room, ocean view,in the inn, the main part of the resort. We were assigned a room on the 4th floor, room 2415, when we went up to the room, found out it was a king room, and I had booked a double queen bed room, so I went back to the desk and they gave us room 2411, double queens, ocean view. The rooms are very nice! And large! These rooms are larger than any of the deluxe rooms I have stayed in at wdw. And the balcony and view of the ocean..omg my sister and I were in heaven! After we settles into our room and sat on the balcony a while taking in the view and sounds of the ocean, we wandered down stairs and out and take a walk on the beach. The weather was great, very warm. we walked on the beach a while, then wandered over t the pool area to explore. then we went to the green cabin room, sat outside and had a drink as the sunset. After our drink, we wandered around the lobby and looked at the shutters menu deciding what to do for dinner. we went back to our room for a while to chill on the balcony..we ended up back at the green cabin room for a light dinner there, and drink, as we weren't very hungry because we stopped on the way to the resort for a late lunch. we ended up back in our room after dinner , sat on the balcony again, listening to the waves crash , then hit the sack around midnight. The beds weren't that comfortable(hard) but I managed to sleep. we could hear the waves even through our closed balcony door, it was great falling asleep to the sounds of that.
we set the alarm to wake up to watch the sunrise, but well, when the alarm sounded we ended up turning it off and going back to sleep lol but we were up not long after and downstairs for breakfast and a walk on the beach by 830. We had bfast at shutters, it was good. after a walk on the beach, and some more poking around, it was time to check out and head home. we weren't there long enough to spend a lot of time on the beach, but it was a quiet overnight stay which is what we wanted for my bday, just some sister time.
oh, does anyone know what the "dimples" are in the wood floor in the lobby??
the vero beach resort is a long drive from wdw. Do people stay at that resort and commute to the parks? It is quite a drive. All in all, we had a great time there, and I do plan on returning asap its my new favorite Disney resort.

Sounds like you had a great time and a good birthday. Interesting to hear that the waves could be heard from your room. Happy you enjoyed your stay.

DH & I were there that same week and it was fabulous! The views from the upper floors are great. We took 1+ hour walks on the beach everyday. Too bad you missed the sunrise, it was beautiful from the beach.
