This is me at an award ceremony right before law school graduation in May 2003. I weighed in at over 230lbs and probably a lot more since I didn't start weighing myself until about a month later.

This is me and my mom in Oct 2003 with about 40-45lbs gone.

And finally this is me last week (a bad picture since I had to take it of myself but good enough for comparison) at about 173 and 55lbs gone.

Gee, you look TERRIFIC! Congrats on your success, you have worked very hard and it shows. Your success is certainly an inspiration to me.

I haven't been on this board in a while, would you mind doing me a favor? I'll bet others like to hear this as well.....

Tell us what you are doing, what motivated you to start, what keeps you motivated and (this one especially for me...) how much are you sticking to your plan? (i.e. 100 % no excuses, allowing yourself a few "treats", etc.)

Stephanie you look mahvalous!!! I'm impressed that you're going to be a lawyer! sounds exciting and well-paying!! woo hoo!!!

Sure Vija,

I am on WW but following it on my own. I started WW in Sept but from the end of June to Sept I focused on exercising 5 days a week - usually just a 1 or 2 mile walk and not pigging out. The stayed pretty strict on WW until Thanksgiving and didn't come back to it until Jan. In Oct I got a second job so I stopped exercising but still lost weight and did a good job maintaining over the holidays. Then in Jan I recommitted to exercise and staying on WW.

There were several things that got me motivated to do something about my weight. I was getting too big for my clothes and didn't have the money to buy new stuff. I had been lurking around WISH during my prep for my Aug disney trip and realized how many people were in the same situation I was in. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to do all that wanted to do in WDW b/c of my size. And I spent a few days with my best friend in June and remembered how we once were almost the same size (12-14) and I saw how good she looked and wished I looked that good too.

As for staying on plan I will admit that I am not always 100% and even with the WW flex points I sometime go over. I still eat candy and cake and cookies but I'm learning to only eat a little bit of them and not binging. Planning ahead helps to keep me on track too. All during the holidays I was off plan but didn't have a big gain and I think that was b/c I was still paying attention to what I was eating even though I didn't count points or anything. I would say no to 2nd and 3rd helpings, especially of dessert. Also exercising is very helpful. I lost the first 20lbs mainly just exercising and not binging. I also have a journal here on wish that you can check out. A lot of us find that the journal helps keep us accountable for what we eat and what we do.

I hope that helps.

Fantastic!!!! You look amazing! Now go and treat yourself to a nice portrait - you deserve it!
