...and really enjoyed it!

But it makes me think the attraction is awfully dated in comparison. Maybe it's due for a makeover, putting to use some of the technology, storyline, and imagery from the movie. What do you think?

I saw the movie last week and IT WAS AWESOME! I agree with you on the out dating of the ride but I really liked the way they integrated parts of the ride with the movie! I especially liked the special affects and the funny parts in it! Johnny Depp was a great choice! I think I may look at the ride a little bit differently now.

Just got back from seeing it for the second time!! It would be awesome to have Captain Jack somewhere (heck, I'd gladly settle for Will Turner, a girl can dream!!!) But seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if some skeletons worked their way into the ride, or the Black Pearl!

We saw it at the drive in last weekend.... I enjoyed it but I was confused about something....
Why did Bootstrap die when they tied him to the cannon and sent him to the bottom of the sea? He was around when they got the gold because he sent a piece to his son.... I spent the 2nd half of the movie waiting for him to show up!

Did I miss something?

I'm guessing he didn't die and was still strapped to the cannon. I'd assume he drowned when they all became human again (just a theory).

I had the same questions, but the way I see it there are two possibilities:

1) He wasn't cursed when he was sent to the bottom of the ocean. Remember when they talked about the curse, they said that at first nothing happened. But as more and more of the gold was given away, the curse started to take effect. It took full effect when the last piece of gold was given away. This would have been after Bootstrap was killed. I think this is the most likely scenario.

2) He was cursed, didn't die, but was walking around the bottom of the ocean, weighted down by the cannonball. But when the curse was lifted at the end of the movie, it would have been lifted for him too, and he'd be dead afterall.

good point, but why wouldn't the pirates who needed his blood to lift the curse, then go get him off the bottom of the ocean, since they wouldn't drown either?
(unless the curse was in fact, not in effect when they sunk him?!?!?!)

It's a might big ocean - they might not be able to find him again!

Saw Pirates ---twice!!!

Thought it was a grand movie, the 2nd time around saw even more details. Johnny Depp was the PERFECT pirate.

Look for the rides' scenes. Because the ride is a CLASSIC,
WOULD NOT CHANGE A THING in it!

Can't wait for "The Haunted Mansion" due out at TG.

But what about the scene at the end of all the credits when the monkey took the coin from the chest and re-activated the curse and became a "zombie" monkey again? Wouldn't all the recently un-cursed pirates become cursed again... and so all be alive once again?

I'm thinking the monkey was the only one cursed because why would they put something that changes the whole outcome of the plot after the credits?

As for Bootstrap, I hear they're making a sequel. Maybe he will be in it.:D

I just saw Pirates last night....and I think they did the monkey thing to tie into a sequel!! Great movie! :)

It is nice to see that people are still going to see it.

I saw it twice and would love to go again.
It was a great movie. There are some critics that did not like it.

They said it was too long, fight scenes too long, etc.
But, it was still number three at the box office a few days ago.

BTW, I love Johnny Depp.....

me and my 2 DD's go to the movies alot and pirates was our favorite movie so far this year. We have seen it twice. I cant wait for it to come to DVD. I hope they dont wait forever to release it. There is a little bit of a mystery about bootstrap isnt there? I thought they killed him because he didnt like what they did to jack sparrow. I was thinking they killed him before they found the gold but bootstrap did give his son a medallion so that cant be so. I suppose its possible that he was alive under the ocean and died when they all came back to human form. But wouldnt the pirates have realized that and tried to find him so they could use his blood? OH Well, it was a great movie anyway.

I don't think so, because that would mean that Jack Sparrow was cursed again as well. I don't think the sequel will be a re-hash of the curse - I think it'll be a completely different adventure.

The monkey is not the lead in to a sequal. The writers are smarter to think they can make a bunch of movies about the aztec curse being on again and off again.

Bootstrap Bill had more than 8 years to escape the bottom of the sea. I suspect he wasnt down there when the curse was lifted and therefore did not drown. There in lies the sequal.

ah ha!!! that sounds reasonable to me!!!
:D

I was pleasently surprised on how well the movie was written and directed. I thought the movie was just wonderful and the casting was perfect. I did see it twice and can not wait for it to come out on DVD. It is a must have!

I understand that Johnny Depp will also be part of the next "Pirates" movie based on his contract for the Black Pearl. This makes me want the next movie released a.s.a.p!

I believe that bootstrap drowned when they first put him down there because the curse had not yet taken effect until all the gold was given away. HOWEVER, the darn monkey thing at the end totally ruins that idea because all the gold was there, blood was drawn therefore lifting the curse and if the monkey only took one piece how did the curse begin again?

So, I think Bootstrap is going to make his appearance in the sequel. BTW, Gefforey Rush is not filming the sequel, but Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and the girl (sorry I can never remember her name, just think she looks like Winona Ryder, lol) are all signed for a sequel.

Can't wait!

Loved the movie :bounce: I'm so glad it has done well for Disney. It was #4 this weekend after being out over a month.
We did not stay for the scene after the credits I am so bummed. Can't wait to get the DVD.
