we are so on the fence about joining DVC. I am trying to justify the purchase. Can you all please tell me what was your reason for joining. We enjoy Disney but would like to go to an island on occasion and I am convincing my husband that yes, you can use your points to go to an island. We also enjoy staying at nice hotels/resorts. Is the dining plan now included in DVC ownership. I am curious as to have every one made their decision to join. Your opinions mean a great deal to me. Every time we go to WDW, to stay at either a moderate or delux is over $4,000 for a 7 night stay (approximately). Do you feel that the DVC is well worth the cost in the long run......Thanks so much

Only you can make the decision. Really all DVC is prepaid lodgings for the next 35-60 years (depending on resort you buy). Tickets and the dining plan are extra and the same price as everyone else pays (the exception being AP's there is a DVC discount on those). We also like to go to other places and usually take 2-3 vacations a year, with one usually being DVC related and hte other ones being a cruise or an island vacation. We own another timeshare on St. John to get our island fix and usually cruise DCL when we cruise. Our main reason for joining was to get much larger accommodations at WDW. We enjoy our DVC and just added more points to our kitty. Be careful, most of us catch the addonitis disease after joining, I'm on my 4th add on!!!!!!
