....any thoughts and/or suggestions? We are going in August of '08 to celebrate my parent's 25th anniversary, and they've always said they've wanted to eat there and I figure now is as good of a time as any! I'm pretty excited!

I've seen a mix of reviews on the place...hopefully it's good!

we ate there for the first time in june.i was a little worried after reading some of the reviews but DH wanted to try it and I always wanted to eat there. We were glad that we did.We loved it and so did our children.Hubby and I had the combination platter,DS16 had the nacho's and our youngest had the mahi mahi, which is his favorite. We had a wonderful waiter, and we all loved the atmosphere. We had an ADR and went to the podium about 15 minutes before our reservation time and was seated right away. They were turning away people that didn't have an ADR.We would definately eat there again.

We rarely eat at San Angel, as we have a lot of Mexican style food here at home, but our experiences with them were good.

This is my DH's FAVORITE restaurant. It's pretty dark inside, so you may want to bring a little flashlight to read the menu :rotfl:. I do like it though, the food is really well done! :thumbsup2 And when you'e done eating, you can go on the boat ride inside. I haven't been on it since it's been changed to the 3 Caballeros... but the youtube video makes it look like it's still 'El Rio'... updated Disney style.

Thanks! I'm glad that there are people who looked forward to and enjoyed it!

I've always wanted to eat there as well since I love the mexican pavillion and the atmosphere inside. I finally get to try it this September :)

We had a great meal there last year, I love the combination plate! We also have ADR's for our upcoming trip!

We are going to try it next month and I'm so excited! I've eaten there many times before but not in a few years. I love the atmosphere but I'm a little worried about the food. I am a picky eater and I noticed the ONE thing I always used to get is no longer on the menu. I think it was acually just an apetizer - queso fundido. Do you think I can still ask them to make it for me? Will they know what I'm talking about? Oh well. I'm sure I'll enjoy it - a nice lunch after going "around the world on a segway!" That's going to be a good day..but then again, anyway in disney is a good day!!

I love the atmosphere! The drinks were wonderful. The nachos were terrible. :sad2: I had the Mahi-Mahi a la Veracruzana and enjoyed it. My DH had the Filete Motuleno and thought it was just ok. My kids were not thrilled with their meals. It is not on our 'must do again' list....but I would definately eat there again, but only after trying a few other places first.

We love San Angel Inn! We always return. We have always had good food and the atomosphere is hard to beat! It is definately worth trying out!

I love San Angel Inn and am always puzzled by the bad reviews this place gets. Its not a Tex Mex style of Mexican food which may be why many don't care for it, since that is a popular form of Mexican (in and out of Texas). I really like the combination platter and the filet is very good. The nachos have a Mexican sausage on them so if that is not to your liking you can ask them to leave it off or they will sub chicken (they did that for my daughter a couple of times). The margaritas are really good!

I don't like San Angelo Inn because they serve Tostitos and what tastes like canned salsa. Some of their other food is okay, but not frying their own chips just kills it for me. I do like the atmosphere though, and am glad I ate there at least once.

Thanks for that tip! I was planning to get them to hold the sausage (and the red sauce), but now I will know to ask for them to substitute chicken! :yay:

We are trying it in Sept. for the first time. The Mexico pavillion is one of our favorite places in WDW b/c the boat ride there is one of DDs faves! I think we will love the atmosphere, even though I'm not crazy about the menu. I'm planning for me and DH to share 1 TS credit and pay for DDs child's meal OOP. Do you think that 1 TS meal will be enough to share?

Great thread, thanks for the info!

Well, as sure as I tell you they will sub chicken they won't do it! But at the very least, they will leave it off. As far as sharing, the meal would probably be big enough given it includes an appetizer (and those nachos are good size) and a dessert. However, I have heard conflicting things about if they will allow you to share a ts credit. Some have reported being told no, it says on the website that sharing isn't allowed on the DDP. At the very least I would think you could order something cheap off the menu (the soup is good) and then share perhaps. It might just depend on your server that day.
