Finally found the "trash can" operator

The hand held microphone used by the operators of these "robots" does not require anything more than a whisper. We were standing right in back of the Wes Palms operator, we could see his lips moving, but could not here him speaking in his normal voice. All we heard was Wes's booming voice.
About the furthest away that we ever saw the operator stand was about 30 feet or so. Usually he is within 10 to 15 feet. These guys have become so obvious to us that we have a hard time understanding why everyone does not see him.
On one occassion, we saw a young couple astonished by the way Wes behaved, and could not figure out how it worked. The young lady was telling her boyfriend/husband that she could not figure out how the thing functioned and he agreed. The funny thing was, the operator was standing right next to them! He must get some pleasure from watching folks reactions.
Oh, and by the way, we would NOT give the guy away to onlookers.

You guys are making me feeling nuts now...I was probably looking too far away. He was probably right under our noses. Well, I gotta find him / her next time now. :confused3

Thanks sooooooo much for the pix of Wes Palm. Now I at least know what I am looking for.

Thanks again!

Pat

We went nuts at Star Wars Weekend looking for R2-D2's operator because he kept following my wife around, flirting with her and rolling between us.

That's cool. I didn't know they had an R2 rolling around for Star Wars weekend. I have seen pics of the Studios with the SW characters roaming around. I sooooo want to go there this year for SW weekend. :earsboy:

carefull when you are spotting the "operator". I saw him and my 10 year old said to me" where the heck is the person running that thing?" since he asked and he was old enough to know the "tech behind the magic" i very casually wispered in his ear and DID NOT POINT to show him where the operator was. We had a good time watching push interact with everyone. then some guy comes up and blantently points at the operator and proceeds to tell his kids (young) the "tech behind the magic". Pushes operator got peeved, and thru Push, gave this guy a dressing down. Asked this guy if he wanted to discuss the Easter Bunny and Santa right now too? Called him a kill joy. Stuff like that. All with a joking tone and all via Push, but you could tell the operator was miffed that this guy was so blatent about revealing his identity and the workings of his "character".

have a good time looking for the operator, but be mindfull not to ruin it for other guests (especially kids) in the process.

Both times we saw Push inside Rafiki's Planet watch... just after lunch. It really is so much fun to see the little kids interact with push. and i love looking for the operator... if you are looking he is usually behind one of the palm trees... he was pretending to eat something out of his bag it was great

For that clown to give away the "secret" out loud like that just shows that there are enough morons on this earth to go around, no doubt 'bout it! :confused3 :guilty:

DD loved running into the trash can at MK - she was still in her Sleeping Beauty costume, and was wearing her birthday pin... 2 kids were 'stalking' him, and when he saw DD, he said, oh, can i have a kiss from Sleeping Beauty? I'll sing Happy Bday!! DD was so confused, she looked at me, and we encouraged her to stand next to him, and interact... she was so confused because a "Trash Can cant know so much mom" :rotfl2:

She did bend down and give him a kiss!! It was so funny!! :rotfl: and sweet!!

The last time we saw Push was in TomorrowLand. The operator looked like a tourist carrying a camara bag. The giveaway was that his hand was inside the bag which, I assume, is how he controls the movements. He was easy to spot, but only because this was early February and no one was around. Were there a crowd of people he would have blended in wonderfully. So don't expect that the operator is hiding somewhere, he may be in plain sight.

I saw Push last in December '04. There was about 6 little kids with their parents crowded around him. Me and my friend were just sitting down having a blast watching them!! I noticed some guy kept walking around and just staring at it, then I noticed his little tourist bag, and me and my friend knew it was the operator. It was so cool, even once we knew who the operator was, it was still fun to watch. I got a picture of Push with the operator in the backround, I don't think I did that on purpose though. Does anyone know what times Push is seen around MK.

A can's best friend . . .

I had a nice conversation with PUSH last month -- thanks for the pic. I really did look all around, and was there for a while because I was waiting for my mother who unbeknownst to me, decided to take in Carousel of Progress, which takes considerably longer than the Space Mountain that I went on

It was fun watching kids interact, and when I was sipping my water and the kids wandered away, he came over and asked if the water was for him. Very cute!

Now you did it! The mickey police will be after you now that you have exposed their secret! If I were you, I'd lay low for a while! :teeth:

The talking recycle can at AK isn't Push, but I can't remember for the life of me what he is called. My DS thought he was great. I have a photo of him stood next to this trashcan, grinning madly, which is kind of odd without a caption!

Just googled madly....the name of the reycle bin at AK is PIPA....

You know, the least you could've done was warned that you were about to post a spoiler. I was enjoying everyone's Push stories and rememberng how he chased my husband and I on our honeymoon singing "Here Comes the Bride."

Please warn before doing a spoiler like that picture. :sad1:
