About a month ago, DH & I had been out shopping after we had been home for a short time I went to get something out of the car. When I opened it up I found things that were in the center console out in the seat. I closed & locked the car and went in to see if DH had been in the car. He said he hadn't been out to the car since we had been home. I told him about the stuff in the seat and he said that he thought he locked the car, but maybe he hadn't.
I went to see if anything was missing by checking the glove box and the center console. Could not find anything missing. While putting the stuff back in the center console I found a cell phone mixed in with the normal stuff.
It was a prepaid cell and so I took it in the house and showed my DH. The next day I checked to see if anyone had called the phone looking for it. Nothing.
Fast forward to the beginning of the month and DH calls me while I am out of town to see where the registration is. I told him that it should be in the glove box or in the side pocket on the door. He checked and could not find it. He got a new registration, but we finally found out what was taken from our car the night someone got into it.
Don't know what they could do with my registration since it is for my plate "TinkLvr" and since they obviously do not have that plate, it would not do them any good.
What is so funny about the whole situation is that they must have been in a big hurry putting the stuff back into the center console to put their own phone in there too.
It would have served them right if I had turned it in to the cops or called one of their friends to tell them they left their phone while breaking into someone's car.
