So sorry for leaving you guys hanging! Ive been a very busy and exhausted Crystal! Lets see how much of this I can write up before I fall asleep!
We left off at Festival of the Lion King, yes? Yes!
After the show, I stopped by the character greeting trails to get a picture with Goofy. (The line for the Main Mouse was too long, and Minnie was on break). He was dressed as a cowboy for Halloween, so I asked if he was planning to go try to ride the zebras.

(Ill have to post the Goofy pic later, its still on my Photopass CD, and I havent done anything with those photos yet!)
Well, heres the thing about today: It was hot. Weather.com says 86 degrees, but I think it was more like 186! As a result, the safari or trails or basically anything else involving being outdoors didnt sound particularly appealing. Sitting down for extended periods in air conditioned theaters watching shows did!
Finding Nemo was in soft opening on my last trip, but I missed seeing it, so today was the day!
Heres the only photo you get for this part of the report:
For those of you who remember this theater from Tarzan Rocks, theyve done a great job of transforming it! One detail is awesome- there are three large bubbles on either side of the stage, and every few minutes as youre waiting for the show to begin, a projection of Nemo appears in one bubble. Whoever came up with this idea is a genius- I was in the theater for a good 20 mins before the show started, and the kids in the audience were enraptured with finding Nemo the ENTIRE time. Each time he appeared, choruses of young voices would shriek There he is!!. In between, you could hear them predicting where he would show up next. Excellent idea! Nothing says awesome like something that keeps kids entertained when they would otherwise grow impatient!
The show is beautiful- incredible set and costume design, amazing puppetry, and music that feels like its been there all along. (And you KNOW the I belong here! line in Big Blue World gets me!) I dont love it as much as Lion King, but I still thought it was great.
After the show, I decided to swing by Asia to hit the Anandapur Tea cart, and on the way, I saw this dude waking in front of me:
If you look carefully, you can see that ALL of his hair was one solid dreadlock!!! Captain Jack would be envious!
Ive been wanting to try a lot of the hot teas from the tea cart, but on a day this hot, I had to go for a chai freeze!
I sat on a bench for quite a while, sipping and people-watching. (One note- Animal Kingdom has no straws, and this was one of those instances where I was really wishing they did!)
By now it was about 12:30, so I decided to head on over to Old Key West to check in. I waited for the Old Key West bus stop, and enjoyed the occasional breeze that punctuated the heat. Did I mention it was HOT? On the plus side, I think this was the only day of the trip with NO rain!
The bus made its usual stop at Blizzard Beach on the way to the resort - this drives me nuts! Ive almost never seen them pick up or drop off anyone. According to the clock, it was only 4 minutes there from AK, but it *feels* like going way out of your way!
This time, some people approached the bus at the Blizzard Beach stop
and asked if our bus was going to Bizzard beach!!! The driver blinked at them, and informed them that they were AT BB, and pointed which direction to walk. He said he gets that kind of question all the time, and we had fun chatting about the stupid questions people ask (I was the only one on the bus).
We made it to Old Key West at 1:16 (I love the new built-in bus clocks!), but didnt make it to the Hospitality House stop until 1:25. Thats the thing that irritates me about OKW- Im way too impatient to sit for ten minutes just to get to my stop when Im already AT the resort!
There was a huge line to check in (I must have awful timing! Every time I check in here, I have to wait at least half an hour), but eventually I was all set! I had requested a room near the Hospitality House, but ended up just about as far away as possible, again. I was disappointed, but tired, so I was happy that the room was at least ready!
I had someone from Bell Services drive me to my room (Love that!), and had my luggage delivered a little while later. I decided that I was in the mood for some internet, so I set up my laptop to get online. And thats when I learned that you have to have charging set up on your room key to use the internet. Doh!
I almost always put a credit card on my room, but for some reason, I had decided to skip doing it this time. Mostly because I had some gift cards to use up, so I didnt expect to be charging much to the room. I called the front desk to ask if I could add the card over the phone, but you have to actually do it in person. Doh, again!
I walked down to the Turtle Pond bus stop (just a few minutes away), waited for a bus, and took it to the HH. (The Hospitality House is usually the last stop on any route, so most busses will take you there). Adding the card took just a few minutes, and then I decided to walk back to the room (about a 10 minute walk). I think my frustration with the size of OKW is summed up here- the whole process of getting there and back took a total of 47 minutes! I just wanted to get on the dang internets, gawrsh durnit!
Here are a few photos of the view from the room:
Oooh, glamorous!
And here are a few photos I took on my cell phone while waiting for my luggage earlier:
Capt Jack welcomes you to OKW!
Room: Still clean! (I should have taken an after picture that night- it looked like a tornado hit!)
Jack is handy in the kitchen
Sadly, Jack does not contain caffeine.
Nor is he edible! Thus, we can conclude that Jack is not a part of this complete breakfast!
Hangin around
Showing off our patio
Enjoying the Great Outdoors
This little fellow wasnt so keen on sharing his plant with a pirate!
Resting up after his adventures!
Thats it for now- Coming up is
